elltee56 0 #26 June 23, 2009 You are not too old to start skydiving. I started at 53 years old and that was 12 years ago. I am now 65 with many state, national and world record skydives to my credit. Even at 65, I have been the video guy for 4 and 8 ways teams that compete on the National level. If you want to get good at the sport, you must stay current. Skydiving becomes a lifestyle. Good health is very important as is flexability. Go for it and take each level in stride. If you want it bad enough, it will happen. You are only as good as you think you are. keithbar 1 #27 June 23, 2009 when i started jumping at 18 I was like, maybe if i live long enough I'll be a pops jumper one of these days. now I'm shooting to be on the joe world record in 32 years or so i have on occasion been accused of pulling low . My response. Naw I wasn't low I'm just such a big guy I look closer than I really am .
apogee77 0 #28 June 24, 2009 Since you are in FL I strongly advise you to get some tunnel time under your belt before you do the CAT C release dive. We had a "seasoned" felow as yourself do that and it helped a lot! Will
kallend 2,026 #29 June 25, 2009 Quote Am I too old to begin an extreme sport like skydiving? No, I started at 52. Nationals medalist at 56. Been on POPS, SOS and sequential world records. And Elltee is even older than me.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.

MikeRMontagne 0 #32 June 26, 2009 No not too old, this last May I was grounded over a reserve "incident" , but I went on and did what was asked to continue with training. I even went and did two more graduated free fall jumps, off radio, which is small potatoes,in amongst all these much more, dedicated & "seasoned" sky divers. Right now the only things holding me back from more sky diving is that I'm between positions and whether or not I should raid my R.S.P. to complete my training. Friend, (if I may) you,as we all have ,this need now for vertical speed , so feed the need!MikeBe Brave, embrace the fear, even if your not, pretend to be. fergs 0 #33 July 2, 2009 QuoteI did my first tandem on my 50th birthday last May. Am I too old to begin an extreme sport like skydiving? I turned 50 a few years back. Celebrated by making 50 jumps on the day. Not sure what I should plan for my 75th birthday - but that's far enough in the future not to have to worry for a while yet. Regardless, it was a nice way to celebrate a milestone birthday - and the 50th jump of the day came all too quickly. Blue Skies, fergs
