format 1 #1 June 29, 2009 I still can't. I've seen pattern troubles with people upsizing. Can you fly wl 1 just after regularly jumped 1.6 and have a plan acomplished as good? ____________________ I'm used to be wrongWhat goes around, comes later. likestojump 3 #2 June 29, 2009 Just this weekend I jumped the Optimum 126 4 times, and then Manta 288 twice. all were on target landings. it's done all the time. think of the tandem masters flying shit hot pocket rockets for personal rigs, and then big tandem truck canopies for "work"
PhreeZone 20 #3 June 30, 2009 Bingo. I jumped some tandems at around 1.1 and put it with in 50 feet of where I wanted and then followed it up with my canopy at 1.6 and swooped right where I wanted to the next load.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
AndyMan 7 #4 June 30, 2009 If I'm flying something that resembles a normal pattern, I can fly any parachute and land it accurately. In the last month I've jumped a very highly loaded Samurai, a moderately loaded Triathlon, a very lightly loaded Navigator, and a Strong tandem. If I fly a proper pattern, I can put them anywhere I want. If I try to swoop it, then it becomes laughable. I have a lot of trouble swooping my triathlon - even toggle whipping, I just can't get it to burn altitude like I like, so I land long. I landed even longer when I tried to swoop the Navigator. Obviously I haven't tried swooping the Strong tandem. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
format 1 #5 June 30, 2009 Heh Kinda makes my point, for baby_me too - it's easier to downsize then upsize. Downsize is very clear danger, pinpoint. Upsize seems underestimated, like "what can happen", pfff. I don't think of it as a joke. Dramatizing? Well, ok, but so far, if choosing safety - I'll rather jump on current "higher" wl - if feeling more confedent on it. Boogie? Very yes. Selfconfedence is not a fairy. To be clear: rather 1.3-current than 0.8 insecured. For everybody's sake. ____________ keep hittingWhat goes around, comes later.
format 1 #6 June 30, 2009 I haven't had any doubt that most of you are adapted to this issue. I was just hoping that you will acknowledge the effort needed. And the danger too. Powerlines, hangar etc. 50th jump, nearly broke spine, thanks to complacency concerning upsizing. What goes around, comes later.

When not broken I regularly jump a Samurai 105 (1.7-1.9) Monarch 135 (1.3-1.5), and Dagger 244/Fox 245 canopies (.7-.9) and can land+stop any of them in a pea gravel sized area.
