wmw999 2,543 #2 June 12, 2009 Enjoy yourself. Find the fun in each of those skydives. Remember that the fun isn't in doing it "right," it's in having fun. That, and relax. It's not a competition to see who can be the best student, or learn the fastest. You're paying a lot of money, you should figure out what your primary goal for each jump is, work on that, and make having fun a priority too. Relaxed, you'll learn more. Ketia0 0 #5 June 14, 2009 So. i only got one jump in yesterday. i did my 10th solo! We did a closed accordian exit, and when we gained stability he spun me around and threw me off to see how fast i could regain stability on my own... instant! i tracked for 6 seconds, did a 180 and tracked back. deployed at 5,500 i love falling! the only thing about tracking is.. i dont feel anything tracking. i dont even feel like i am moving! anyone else feel like that? Well, one can feel a difference, but it's less apparent to a new student with little experience and a lot of sensory hyper-load. What you're feeling is common for a student. At this early stage, you'll tend to be more aware of visual cues, such as the change of your relative position from other jumpers in the air with you. Ketia0 0 #7 June 14, 2009 I can tell when i am getting close to my instructor. But when i pick a heading, and track towards it, i cant feel anything, and it doesnt even look like i am getting closer! Once i get my license i hope to practice tracking for a while! "In this game you can't predict the future. You just have to play the odds. jsaxton 0 #8 June 14, 2009 Remember, 1.17 times the square root of your altitude = Distance to the horizon in nautical miles. If you are at 10000 feet how far is the horizon? I doubt if you will be able to discern such a small percentage ;) Later you will be able to watch your "ground track" while you are tracking and be able to see your progress that way. bclark 0 #10 June 18, 2009 Man, you think 2 weeks is bad. I now have not made a jump in 2 MONTHS. For the first time in years. I am having lots of fun flying the Caravan though.
