I know of PD "grounding" a canopy that was sent in for a line set ONLY.

That was some time ago though. Not when Gilles was working there ;)

That's not just PD and it's not just canopies. If you send a rig back to a manufacturer for velcro replacement and they find something that they think makes it unairworthy, they ground it. (Which, if you think about it, is actually a good thing.)
