vt1977 0 #2 January 8, 2004 Never jumped it and no idea about the technical stuff but you can find a picture of one here: http://www.targetsky.demon.co.uk/Aircraft.htm Vicki
mr2mk1g 10 #3 January 8, 2004 Yes its nice. I hear its the fastest turbine in Britain. Its quick up to altitude and holds 17 jumpers although weston runs it with 15 on a full fuel load then 16 then 17 etc. (I hear hibbs runs it with 17 all the time though - grapevine only). Bottom line is that most jumpers like it. No idea on the money behind its operating though.
vt1977 0 #4 January 8, 2004 afaik the G92 (Twin) takes 15-16ish and the Finist (single engine) takes approx 10. Vicki
SkydiveMonkey 0 #5 January 8, 2004 I have 9 seconds of pro tracked freefall inside a SMG. My rating of it went up after that. It a pain if you're in the back though____________________ Say no to subliminal messages
Nick 0 #6 January 8, 2004 Hawe jumped it a few times. Is v quick to altitude, but the step is very low, the door can get in the way if your rear float and can be a bit cramped if your in the back on the bench. Otherwise I like it. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
meatbomb 0 #7 January 8, 2004 I think you're referring to the G-92 Turbine converted Dornier, which as far as I know, holds 15 skydivers. I have done about 150-200 jumps out of those, and have never seen more than 15 in them... The SMG-92 "Rocket" Turbine converted Finist takes 10 jumpers, and has a kick-ass rail/step, you can get 8/9 people out on it... both these planes are fuqin fast, and go to 15"000ft at Hibaldstow most every weekend...easily the best value turbine ticket in the country... Oh lord, won't you buy me, a G-92, My friends all jump Porters, it's makin me blue, Jumped Cessnas all my lifetime, Yes, Lord it's true, So Lord, won't you buy me, a G-92!!! --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! mr2mk1g 10 #8 January 8, 2004 Oops - yes your right. The Finnest is smaller but quite nice. Huge step. I did a raps jump out of it too ages ago.
Markj 0 #9 January 9, 2004 Ye its actually a really nice plane, really quick. Only shit thing is what monkey already mentioned,.. if you are sitting right at the back then there is very little room between the floor and the roof so the last guy gets really cramped and has a sore neck by the time you jump. Best plane I have jumped out of. http://www.turbofinist.com .
Jumpmunki 0 #10 January 10, 2004 watch for the flap hinges. they carved a lump out of my helmet!
yoink 321 #11 January 11, 2004 IMO The Finist is a fantastic plane - quick, warm, big step etc... but the step can make life a little different for launching S/L students out of it if they're not used to it.
riggerrob 643 #12 May 1, 2009 Bump! A Calgary (Alberta, Canada) firm (Frontier Petroleum Services) just bought the design rights and is planning to put it into production. The new airplane will be called "Rhino" and will be offered with Orenda V8 pistons engine or PT6 turbine.
