Hello all

I need skydivers to fill in this short questionnaire. This is not to offend any of you and is going to be used in a research project. You will be put forward on completion of the questionnaire for £20 prize draw.
This needs skydivers whos primary sport is skydiving and not basejumping.

Thank You very much for your interest and if you would like to take part please please click on the link below.

It's clear from your questions what your theory is:

Skydivers are all a bunch of losers, who participate in dangerous activities to escape from their otherwise worthless lives, so that they can feel in control of their own destiny for a few brief minutes.

And that's bullshit.

I'm tired of being poked and prodded like a guinea pig by a bunch of academic sissies. Get off your high horse and go out and experience life. Quit being judgmental about other people. Just because we like a high risk sport doesn't mean that it's used as a control-remedy for a mundane, uncontrolled life.

Maybe you should ask what kind of professions people work in - you would find that skydivers come from all walks of life - hardly the worthless dregs you seem to presuppose. In fact, skydiving is a rather expensive sport; in order to participate, you have to first be successful in your regular life, in order to earn the needed money to become successful in skydiving. Those aren't the type of people who have no control over their lives - those are people who see something they want, and work hard to make it happen.

Maybe you should also ask what education levels participants have - you would find that we're actually a smart bunch of people, quit well in control of our own lives and destinies, both on the ground and in the air.

Get out and try it.

edit: what stresses me out is shitty weather and too much work...(well the money is nice tho), both which stop me from jumping as much as I want...

Poorly worded survey. I doubt the answers could be considered unbiased.

+1.

Additionally, there's an element of usability consideration that needs to go into online surveys. Most academic types don't understand that. Page 2 includes 54 questions with 7 possible answers each (a scale of 7). I'm not inclined to sit and think my way through 378 different answers.

So I barely made it through page 1 (in which the questions were poorly worded and inapplicable - the same person could answer one question differently, depending on their understanding of it). Those are whopping variables that will undermine any attempt at analysis.

(And that's assuming the questions weren't biased to begin with).

Perhaps a course in basic statistical analysis would be helpful for this person?

Forget Stats Analysis they need a basic course in market research first. A simple focus group OR a test survey would have shown him that the survey he put in place is garbage.

Easy.... if you want to see the questions just use a fake name and email. If you think it's worth effort then go back and be honest.

After seeing the questions..

Nah, don't bother.

Seriously... over the top leading questions that imply that the poll author has unwarranted preconceived ideas that he's trying to get some positive reinforcement for.

After writing a reply with a bit of harsh words in it. I rewrote it in a more charismatic way to be:

Please go away.
