Skydiving gear is dangerous!

Recommended Posts

After a week-end of jumping in any disciplines you can think of, on my last jump on Sunday I was taking my rig off and I tripped into the legstraps, fell, and broke my right fourth metacarpal in half!:$ The good news is that I helped the orthopedic to shape the cast so I can keep jumpingB|

And for that matter, even putting it on can be dangerous.
Kim (Cloudi) was standing with her rig on her back and in trying to put her legs through the leg straps got one stuck at her knee, she lost her balance and fell on her knee, hitting it on the concrete hard and never got to jump. [:/]

Be safe.

maybe you and your rig should get to be better friends.... if you ambush it all the time it might start to hate you. i'm pretty sure you don't want to piss off your rig. [:/]:o

It's okay. My Mirage and I have a love/hate relationship. She knows she's just a few months away from seeing a horrible end on a BBQ grill while I gleefully douse it with more lighter fluid.;) So, since she knows, I have to sneak up on her.B|

Okay, you all need to go back to B-12 snaps!:P

Especially old fat farts like me.;)

I have been jumping B-12's for almost 30 years and have never fallen down putting my rig on or taking it off. In fact, I can put it on while jogging to the plane.:)
Now I have fallen down walking in from the parking lot.:P

Don't anyone feel bad, my father in law got ran over by a golf cart this weekend and is in a cast....and he thinks my wife and I are nutty for wanting to do our first jump this weekend.....;)

Genius? ..... Insane? Who's to say?

I'm glad there's other people like me out there! I've never actually fallen over whilst putting my rig on (thank god for the pole within arms reach!) but I have been told many times that I have "not yet perfected the elegant way of putting my rig on" hehe:D....and I thought it was just me!

I went out to the DZ to video a friend's landings. I was not jumping, and I have never been injured in my limited career so far. Anyway, I was walking out to the student landing area at Elsinore, and I was looking up to see where her canopy was. Sure as shit while not watching where I was going my foot went straight into a huge varmint hole and I collapsed into a heap. Ouch!!

I remember thinking that I should bribe a jumper who had landed into loaning me their rig so I could justify the ride in the golf cart. I was OK, but embarrassed, no real damage, but boy it sure is funny what can get you......

Do we need to have the talk about bowling/golf? :P:D

I went downhill mountain biking with a friend. We were doing the most serious stuff I have ever done, very fast downhill (because the brakes were useless) on very jagged rocks... I crashed a few times going over 30MPH. He did too.

We stopped to look at the map. He was standing still. He fell over on flat ground and his knee hit the only rock within feet... Knee needed to be scoped. $45,000 hospital bill after Kaiser reduced it from $75,000. He had to pay 20% of the first $10,000 - thus a $9,000 bill for standing still.

And, there was the time my uncle playing golf....

Never mind.:S

Life is dangerous I guess. I guess this "incident" thread is the reason why my AFF instructors told me to have a hand on a wall (or cute person) while putting on gear.:P

Golf is dangerous... my brother broke his leg playing golf... I like to claim it was full contact golf... but alas it was the regular kind.

My grandfather rolled his golf cart and threw my grandmother off, which probably saved her life.:P

I was embarrassed to tell you at the time, but the reason I fell was really because I was temporarily blinded by the unearthly glow radiating from your unconditionally immaculate hair.
