GussoneR 0 #1 February 2, 2009 Hi, Did anyone already jumped off a Cessna 337?? I found one to jump off, but it seems to me a little dangerous ..
I3uller 0 #2 February 2, 2009 Why would it be dangerous?
howardwhite 6 #3 February 2, 2009 Quote Why would it be dangerous? Possibly because it has a prop behind the door, as well as in front. 337s have been used for jumps (mostly demos) but generally with the rear engine shut down for exit.HW
JohnRich 4 #4 February 2, 2009 For those wondering what he's talking about, see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cessna_Skymaster How big is the arc of the rear propeller? How far does it extend past the sides of the fuselage? I wouldn't want to try it.
CSpenceFLY 1 #5 February 2, 2009 I premature in the door could be a bitch.
keithbar 1 #6 February 2, 2009 I know I've seen a pic somewhere of a guy exiting one. looked like he was in the process of a forcefull downward and outward dive out. I'd really have to be jonesing for a jump BAD!i have on occasion been accused of pulling low . My response. Naw I wasn't low I'm just such a big guy I look closer than I really am . In my 10 second search for pictures of it I didn't notice the pusher prop. I can see how it would be a bit of a scare getting out.
GussoneR 0 #8 February 2, 2009 ok guys, thanks for answering. I thought jumping with the rear engine shut down for exit. I will think about it
JohnRich 4 #9 February 2, 2009 QuoteI thought jumping with the rear engine shut down for exit. I will think about it Even with that engine shut down so it won't chop you to pieces, just remember that there is still a big sharp piece of metal sticking out. Depending upon where it comes to a stop, you could still potentially hit it. So a vigorous outward launch would still be a good idea. That would make for a darned cool logbook entry. howardwhite 6 #10 February 3, 2009 I posted this in History and Trivia a while ago... so it's a repost. It's a Soloy conversion; the rear engine replaced by a tailgate, the front engine replaced by a turboprop. AFAIK, one of a kind. HW
