My whuffo friends keep asking "what if you hit a bird?"

Got me wondering, has anyone ever hit a bird in free fall or under canopy?

I myself have come pretty close to one or 2 under canopy.

I almost hit a giant bug once while I was under canopy. I don't know what it was doing at a thousand feet, but it wooshed right by me. I think it was a big locust or something. Since I am not sure what it was, I guess it was a UFO.

Year before last we had 2 182's do a fly-by after a formation load and a bird hit the lead plane as it passed by, bounced up and back and hit the trail plane.

We've had Sandhill Cranes around the past 2 years.
Sometimes they just stand around on the runways.
I don't want to hit one of those with our 182.
