what can we do about "skydive nashville"?

Recommended Posts

has anyone seen the website for the defunct skydive nashville, formerly operating out of russellville, ky?

unbelievable!

to have the audacity to misinform prospective students with the entirely fallacious assertion that they and a handful of relatively remote dropzones are the only outfits serving the nashville market!

to go even further and blatantly and repeatedly LIE to the public regarding the only consistently operating dz actually in the area, adventure skydiving center! asc, a uspa group member, runs well maintained turbine aircraft out of the fantastic facilities at outlaw field, in clarksville, tn. please refer to this months issue of parachutist's list of group member dz's and find asc listed as such, a distinction which skydive nashville lacks. (on a side note, jeff napier, who spends a great deal of time on this forum promoting these fallacies is , according to the uspa, not even a member himself! hopefully, the jump(s) he claimed to have made on or about november, 15th were not made at a uspa group member dz!)

i quote from their site:

"You may notice that the other websites that you found advertising to be "Nashville Skydiving" or "Skydive Nashville" all seem to look somewhat alike, and they don't have their location posted anywhere on the website. That's because they are FAKES! They are NOT advertising for real skydiving centers!"

as if this were not enough, they continue:

"There are only THREE real Skydiving Centers in Tennessee and TWO in Kentucky. Any website advertising to be in the major city like Nashville,... is not a real skydive center."

equally as inaccurately is mr. napier's claims that asc is in some manner violating Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 47, Chapter 18, relative to misrepresentation of geographical location. an assertion that he seems unable or willing to justify.

of lesser importance, yet still relevant, is their claim to be the closest dropzone to nashville. as mr. napier is well aware, asc is a full five miles closer to the city center of nashville than the airport in russellville, ky.

i have challenged mr. napier at length on these forums to remedy these malicious and damaging claims. to date, though they have been qualified in a minor way, none of them have been removed from their otherwise impressive website.

please join me in pressuring these folks to correct their misdeeds before their reputation for fairness, professionalism and honesty is forever tarnished.

;)
well im not a skyride fan by any means, but this sport is and always has been rich in moraly questionable behavior. -parabuteo

It is just that it is so pointless, the asc lackeys are going to argue just for the sake of arguing and then there are the people that are too imature to realize that. I suppose I should just not click on it? That would be too easy, I need to make them see the ere of their ways. :D:D:D

The attorney generals for Tn and Ga already know about this and are taking steps to remedy - we should be quiet and let them. :)

I'll go along with that. The last time I butted heads with Cary's minions on here (about their billyv video clip), a bunch of them got banned. :D

They've been doing that for years. That's how they stole all the student and tandem business from the old Pell City DZ before they took it over. I'd be surprised if it stops. :|

Yep, I checked out "Skydive Nashville, and I can see where their website could be considered as deceptive and/or fraudulent. Check it out for yourself at http://www.skydivenashville.com/

I called the number on the site, 1-800-505-JUMP, and a girl in some place called Cedartown, Georgia answered the phone. Then I called the other number on that website, 615-255-1499, thinking, ok, this is in the Nashville area and the same girl answered again.
I thought there was a law in Tennessee that states that a company cannot have a locally listed phone number that is routinely forwarded outside of the local calling area. I did see some kind of directions, but there are kinda vague at best, and I had to search for them, but I guess I could find the place. I need an address to enter in to my Garmin GPS so I can find it a bit easier.

Oh well, Maybe I may go there some day for a skydive,,,,, NOT!

At least they are complying with the ruling about displaying a link to their terms and conditions on the "home" page.

Of course the link is white text over a white background. At least blind people with screen-readers will know about the slime (or you can do a 'select-all' and probably see it).

I wonder why they have to camoflage the "Terms and Conditions" link. I thought the court order said they have to place the Terms and conditions at the bottom of their HOME pages and in the same font and size and the rest of the page.
There must be some information that they don't want someone to see.

So, I think it looks like they may be complying as far as the link being there, it's still hidden so unless someone thginks or knows to look for it the way you suggested, chances are, they are going to miss it.[:/]

Hey Lance, will you take me diving for Great White Sharks in Clarksville, Tennessee? In your website, it reads that I will get into a specially-built shark cage and prepare to lower you into the depths of the waters, your heart starts to race knowing you're about to come face-to-face with a truly remarkable creature near Clarksville, Tennessee.
And you have plenty of mementos from your encounter with a Great White in Tennessee.
This is a website that says that your company offers such an adventure; http://www.luxergy.com/Clarksville_Tennessee/Clarksville_shark_expedition.htm

Now that's something I gotta see!!;););)

This one thing should some everyone the kind of people we are dealing with. Within the letter of the law but completely against what the judge wanted. Maybe they will really piss of a judge.

It amazes me that anyone would want to bring so much shit down on themselves when they could make good money doing it ethically.

I wonder if rthe judge knows about this.

Anyone who defends this operation is, IMO, aiding and abetting fraud.

I especially love how the Nashville site posts the email addresses of all the people who sent in a testimonial. Nice way to maintain some privacy of their clients.

We all know how they care about their clients.
50 donations so far. Give it a try.
