IAD out of a Cessna Caravan

Recommended Posts

There was another post last year sometime which turned into a bitch session about IAD vs everything else.

But the question never got answered. I now need the answer - is anyone out there doing IAD out of a Cessna Caravan?

thanks and let me know privately or otherwise. Just looking for some examples to compare it to Twin Otter IAD, etc.

I believe that Livendive made that post originally. Our 182 had crashed and we were looking at doing the IADs out of the caravan. I never did hear why we didn't go to that and we ended up with another 182 which may have been the over all reason. Contact Livendive...he may be able to answer your question.

TK I think you would be ok to do it as long as you were leveled off to make sure the tail was higher. We used a U-206 with IAD with no troubles. They sat in the door then slid off facing the prop head high. Just told them to keep looking at the prop. Worked fine. But I have to ask why a caravan? Making 3 or four passes would seem to be expensive on fuel. Are you intending to dispatch more than one student per pass? I might not recommend that as it would require a lot of shuffling. We used to do static liners out of the Twin Otter because you could hook up more than on jumper at a time on the exit bar.

Just my thoughts.

we are not actually doing it, I am asking on behalf of a friend of mine. I already know it can be done, there seems to be some questions as to my friend's DZ, and I am helping them hopefully by finding someone who is already doing it regularly.

It should be no different that a lot of similar door exits
