SHem 0 #1 July 1, 2008 Page 85 of the July Parachutist mag. My eyes, they ain't so good, but it looks to me like that tandem instructor is giving the video dude a two handed "You're number one!"????? Pretty rad for a picture in Parchutist Blue Skies!! DougH 270 #2 July 1, 2008 I wouldn't know. I will get mine some time in August after my good for nothing mailman gets done leaving it in the rain, letting his dogs chew on it, and reading it on the shitter. piahenzi 0 #4 July 1, 2008 yes, it's true... I checked the mag... that said, I review my pics before burning them to disc for the student (time allowing) and would most definitely delete this one, even if it meant they wouldn't have the pic for posterity. Not acceptable...and someone at Parachutist shld be seriously embarrassed...of all the awesome pics they must get every month...really...c'mon.. pilotdave 0 #7 July 1, 2008 I don't see the big deal. Skydivers remind me that I'm number one all the time when I have my camera out... and when I don't for that matter. Can't imagine too many Parachutist readers will be offended. Dave
jasonRose 0 #8 July 2, 2008 Agreed. Your number one!!! Some day I will have the best staff in the world!!!
piahenzi 0 #9 July 2, 2008 agreed... we can all be loose and have fun with each other...that's the sport and everything that comes with it...but when it comes to a professional product that people are paying for (tandem vid and stills) the standards, at least for me, are different. To each his own. I don't make decisions for other videots or Parachutist, but I have my standards and code of conduct in this area.
pilotdave 0 #10 July 2, 2008 Well, for what the student gets, I think it depends on the student and it's a judgment call (or you can ask them). For Parachutist, the student will never see it. That's for us. Dave
SuperGirl 0 #11 July 2, 2008 depends how you look at it. it might also be that he's crossing his fingers. maybe it's just a bad angle that makes it look like somethin else.
jtval 0 #12 July 2, 2008 As a vidiot/photard. I have taken lots of pictures where the tm is flipping off the camera. I have yet to see one do that when a reserved student is in the harness though. As far as the photos go the student gets about 100 pics so even if 50 of them (thats hard to do ) had the flipper they can choose to print the other 50. As I said though, ususally the TM has a good feeling for the students personality. I have a picture where both of them are flipping me off. Its one of my favortite shots (of tandem) and it even made my 2008 calendar. My photos My Videos
CSpenceFLY 1 #13 July 2, 2008 I'm hoping that was a friend of a friend or something like that. It still should have not made it into the pages of Parachutist. As for what the passenger get in their video or stills. If the passenger wants to curse, flip birds or walk around with his pecker in his hand that is up to him. The DZ staff should not add that kind of content to the video.
jtval 0 #14 July 2, 2008 Are you saying if the student is all flippers and sophmoric humor that the staff at the dz should not goof off? should we start a dress code too? (I still havent seen the picture so I may be agreeing with you later, but not if its only a middle finger.)My photos My Videos
CSpenceFLY 1 #15 July 2, 2008 I don't care if the staff goofs off. I just don't think they should be dropping the F-bomb even if the student is. You have no idea who is going to see the video in the future and you can be pretty sure not to offend by not joining in with that. The video represents the DZ as a business when it leaves with the student. If you think it adds anything to your videos then by all means, Fuck, fuck, fuckity, fuck fuck. jtval 0 #16 July 2, 2008 I was talking about pictures. Sure the video may be seen be lots of people but if the student is doing it what's the harm? Example:(attached)My photos My Videos
diablopilot 2 #17 July 2, 2008 It's unprofessional. And as a reply to your joking comment about a dress code, yeah it's not that bad an idea. A uniform, or staff colors can be a tool to creating a team atmosphere, something that fosters improvement, professional behavior, and staff morale. And all those things, are good for business.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

pilotdave 0 #23 July 2, 2008 Actually, freefall flipoffs are extremely rare for me. Can't even remember the last time that happened. I think maybe it was on an RW jump I was filming. Someone flipped me off and went low in the process. http://www.skydivingstills.com/gallery/5281568_LC4dp#321818106_kL4zi Dave
