BillyVance 34 #1 February 23, 2008 Or something to that effect. Since they couldn't get Tullahoma, they went after Clarksville Skydiving Association northwest of Nashville near the KY border. They're trying to keep it on the down-low. Well now I'm pulling the cat out of the bag. Vote with your wallets and go elsewhere. CDRINF 1 #5 February 23, 2008 From what I am told by folks I used to jump with at Fort Campbell, they are putting an Otter at Outlaw Field (Yep, that's its name. Named after a real guy, not a gang). Aim is probably to fill the void left by the Fort Campbell Sport Parachute Activity which closed in 2004 after being active at Campbell since 1958. Jumpdude 0 #9 March 10, 2008 A better idea is for all of the up jumpers to get together and jump there. Skyride is in the Tandem business, not the up jumper business. They will not last long if all they can get is up jumpers. It sounds contradictive to say go there, but it would slow down their ability to jump tandems.Refuse to Lose!!! Your logic is flawed but not only in the way the others have pointed out. They could give a shit about their ability to get tandems in the air. They already have their money. They would rather send them home with a rain check because they know most of those people will never come back. Back when they were first perfecting their scheme at ASC, they would book twice as many tandem as they knew they could put in the air. KNowing that most of those people would never come back. Not bad money even at a conservative $200 times maybe 100 people on any given Saturday.
Jumpdude 0 #13 March 10, 2008 Well, it was only 2 cents worth. But that's about all it was. Either way, the wuffos are going to get ripped off and skydiving gets another black eye. And I really don't think there's going to be a way to stop that from happening until something happens at a higher level like the federal level. Then I think they will still try to thumb their noses at the feds.Refuse to Lose!!! yarak 0 #14 March 10, 2008 all students that showed up this weekend got to jump. just like any other weekend that the weather is jumpable. We do everything possible to get students in the air. Jumpdude 0 #16 March 11, 2008 Nashville Skydiving is in Russellville, Ky. But the owner started just north of Nashville, Closer than Clarksville. But with increasing air traffic, he moved to Russellville, but since he actually had the business license under the name "Nashville Skydiving" for over 20 years before moving, so the name stuck. I can see where the contradiction would come in to play there, but he is a legitimate non-skyride DZ. He is a tandem and student primary DZ, so up-jumpers won't get much action there.Refuse to Lose!!! It wouldn't be the first time I gave money to someone that pissed me off because I'm addicted to their service and won't be the last either. I pay taxes and fill my car with gas too, despite knowing that I don't like where the money is going.
