MICHELANGELO 0 #1 March 30, 2008 Hi, I am going to conduct a study for operational costs comparison between Pilatus and Cessna Caravan/Grand Caravan. While I go to the workshop to inquiry about maintenance plans and local costs, I am wondering if somebody has some information previously made about this. Kind regards. skydiverton2 0 #2 March 30, 2008 Try to find the prices of the major spareparts, for example wheels and brakes. This is self-explaining. Also. a caravan can carry 14-18 skydivers instead of 9-10 in a pilatusUsing your droque to gain stability is a bad habid. . . Also in case you jump a sport rig!!! dragon2 2 #3 March 30, 2008 Skydive Rotterdam (The Netherlands) went from a Porter (10 jumpers) to a Cessna 208 Super CargoMaster (19 jumpers) not long ago, a caravan is cheaper, provided you have the jumpers for it. ciel bleu, Saskia
popsjumper 2 #4 March 30, 2008 You guys. He's asking about operational COSTS (including maintenance costs), not profit margins. sheesh. Sorry, MICHELANGELO. I know little to nothing about the question you're asking. Just thought I'd try to help keep the responses on topic. My reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus. grimmie 186 #5 March 30, 2008 Go to the PAC750XL (Pacific AeroSpace Corp.)website. They have a comparison chart between a number of aircraft for operating costs. A Caravan and Grand Caravan is listed, new and used categories also. Porter costs would be best figured out by one of the many DZ's operating them. JohnRich 4 #7 March 31, 2008 QuoteI am going to conduct a study for operational costs comparison between Pilatus and Cessna Caravan/Grand Caravan. Pilatus is a Swiss aircraft manufacturer that makes a number of different aircraft. That name by itself does not refer to any specific airplane. If you are referring to the Pilatus Porter which is common in skydiving, then you need to say that specifically. "Porter vs. Caravan" would be a more correct title. MICHELANGELO 0 #8 March 31, 2008 You are right JohnRich. I let myself go by the custom of calling it Pilatus as if everybody in skydiving world would identify it with the Porter, which is the one I was effectively and actually referring to. PC-6 more exactly, I guess. And the version is B2H4 or something like that. Thanks for your cooperation to clarify this matter.
grimmie 186 #9 March 31, 2008 good thing that got cleared up, because so many DZ's use a PC-12 also...
