Law Question: Skydive with 17 in the US?

Hey everybody.
I have a question in witch US states you can Skydive (tandemjump) with 17. I am from Colorado, wanted to jump but the Center in Canon City did not want me to jump because you have to be 18 by state law. is there maybe a way to get around that? I have permisson by my parents to jump. I am right now 17.

Please Help me!

I just researched the Bill:
Sec. 65.113 Eligibility requirements: General

A. To be eligible for a parachute rigger certificate, a person must:

1. Be at least 18 years of age;

Well I do not want to make a certificate, I only want to jump once.. I understand it that I have to be 18 to get the C. but can I jump earlier with 17?

There are a couple of places that will let you jump at 16 but I think you would have to do AFF. The people that make the tandem rigs require you to be 18 as do most dropzones here in the US.

hmm, I am an exchangestudent from germany, Ilooked there too. they said ok be over 12 but you have to be in a hight and weight scala. What is an FAA? is there noway with permission from the parents?

A lawyer may have a proper answer, but basically people under 18 cannot legally sign a waiver agreeing not to sue if something goes wrong. This leaves the dropzone open to lawsuits. A parent cannot sign for the child.

I think Mullins does at West Tennessee Skydiving Center. You'll have to Google it. He is not a USPA dropzone. I don't remember who else there is. Maybe someone else can help.

My advice is to just wait another year. They sky's not going anywhere.

There are very few US DZ's that will let you jump when you're under 18. The ones that will typically will only allow AFF/static line instead of Tandem.

The problem is that when you're under 18, the liability waiver isn't considered legally valid, even if the parents provide permission and the waiver is notarized, it is often considered invalid in court. Most other countries legal systems don't work that way, so with parental permission you can jump younger.

You can Tandem Jump and do AFF here at 16.

Spend your time and money this year at the wind tunnel on the South side of Denver. Next year you can start jumping at Mile-Hi and have a huge head start on becoming a skydiver.

well the problem is I will leave at the 13 of july... so I do not have so much time to jump in the US
