Jumping at diffrent DZ's?

Recommended Posts

I'm not an instructor or jump master but I would think that if you have all the proper documentation and log book signed off, you could resume the training at another DZ as if you were at the one you started at. I think it depends on the DZ's staff.

It depends on the DZ. At our DZ, I would honor the class, and the jumps provided, I spoke to the DZ to verify the course and the instructors to verify the jumps. Once we were all on the same page you would still need to go over the new DZ layout, rules, protocol....etc prior to jumping. So probably a lenghty refresher so to speak, to definately include E.P.s, Landing patterns, Canopy control. We would need to check what rig/canopy youdid your first two on, to see if they are the same size dynamics.....basically put do we both have that warm fuzzy I am ready feeling.... Good Luck

If I take a first jump course and do my two instructor free fall at a DZ is it common for another DZ to honer that or would they want me to as well take the ground course and do a two instructor jump even though it would be my second AFF jump say not more than 30 days later

I did two of my AFF jumps at home in Colorado one per weekend, made a business trip to California where I did levels 3-6 on one weekend, and did my AFF7 to graduate the next weekend.

Most dropzones would let you continue right where you left off. It would be a good idea to call the new dropzone and ask first. Most places would just give you a short oral quiz to see what you remember and probably have you go over things like emergency procedures.Don't forget to take your logbook with you. Good luck and have FUN !!!

I am going to be the big meany and suggest that you do all your student jumps at one DZ.
Every DZ does things slightly differently, not enough to kill you, but enough differences to force you to repeat a level.
For example, learning a new airplane, exit count, dive flow, hand signals, main deployment handle, canopy, landing field, landing pattern, etc. is a huge amount to absorb in one jump.

For example, some DZS fly left-hand landing patterns while others fly right-hand landing patterns.

My advice is to try to do all your AFF at one DZ within one week. That formula results in the fewest repeats.

The only reason is because I plan on doing my jump with my best friend of 19 years he has a free tandem jump cert. that he is going to use and I will begin My aff. The only problem is the place he has a cert to is over 2 hours away and I have a DZ just 15 min. down the road so I figure take my first jump with him and then continue at my home DZ where I would do the rest of my training each weekend
