blackout 0 #1 February 15, 2008 I am only on student status with 15 jumps but I obviouslly applied for USPA membership months ago and still have not received a card, i still have my temporary card that I got when i started my AFF jumps. Was just wondering if i had to wait till i got a license to receive a card in the mail or what the deal was. I already emailed USPA about a month ago and still nothing in the mail. Lok 0 #2 February 15, 2008 I've been an "USPA member" since September 2007, I lost my membership card on November, apply for a replacement card never got any new card, never any reply to my e-mail. (they say in their website that they'll send a replacement card, if someone lost it) I decide to attend a USPA coach rating course this March, I send to USPA money to get IRM and SIM 2008, never got them, never got any reply to my e-mails.............then I e-mailed to Course Director, he spoke with them and finally they send me my books in one week time with a crap response e-mail with apologies!!!! I have experience from BPA membership as UK was the place I start skydiving, and I honestly say that USPA service is absolute crap in comparison with BPA except the magazine delivery.. I would be happy to pay $250 BPA annual membership for ever if There is that huge difference in Service and reliability. Good luck my friend to get in contact with USPA!!!!!!! slotperfect 7 #3 February 15, 2008 Your card should not have taken more than a couple of weeks to arrive. You ned to give USPA a call.Arrive Safely John
ZeG 0 #4 February 15, 2008 Well doesn't seem like a single case: I am a Member since December 07 and I called them in begin of January about the card and the guy on the phone said he would send it out. Even got a email confimation... but never the card. Kind of sad... But well who approves of the USPA anyway? You mostly hear bad things about them... rtwats 0 #6 February 15, 2008 You should give uspa a call. they might not have your correct address. That happened to me when I ordered the sims and irm. but they were nice about it and corected my address in there system and sent out the books and I recieved them within a week. ZeG 0 #7 February 15, 2008 I receive the magazine, so they do have the right address. (checked it on the cover). Maybe they don't care. But I won't waste anymore time on them. When do I NEED the card anyway?
DanG 1 #8 February 15, 2008 You're right. On dropzone.com all you ever hear is negatives. Spend some more time in the sport and you'll hear other opinions. I happen to think they do a pretty good job. Flame retardant applied. - Dan G

skybytch 273 #14 February 15, 2008 QuoteBut well who approves of the USPA anyway? You mostly hear bad things about them... Depends on who you listen to. Without USPA, we'd have the FAA regulating skydiving in the US. Wouldn't that be great? Ever consider that they may have sent it out when they said they did but it got lost in the mail? Oh wait... that never happens...

Oh wait... that never happens... It doesn't mean I have a negative oppinion about them. At the moment (look at my jumpnumber) I don't really know what to think at them since I am in the sport now since just a few months. I am just stating the opinion alot of other people have offered about the USPA For now I am absolutly content with ignoring them, since I have other things that are more important atm. diablopilot 2 #16 February 15, 2008 QuoteI am just stating the opinion alot of other people have offered about the USPA People rarely comment when something happens the way it should, so there is a disproportionally high level of negative comments. I have had pretty good results in my communications with the USPA, and on the rare occasion an e-mail has gone unanswered, a phone call or second e-mail has done the trick.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. SPAWNmaster 0 #18 February 15, 2008 I have also had good experiences with the USPA. Every email I have sent has always been responded to in a timely manner. My 2008 SIM also came with my first USPA card very quickly after I ordered it in December 2007. Also, I got my second USPA card (with my A license on it) probably about 2 or 3 weeks after sending in my proficiency card. Regardless of whether you have a negative opinion of them, would you rather have a government body governing the sport?

LongWayToFall 0 #20 February 15, 2008 I guess it must be hit or miss, every time I have emailed them they get right back to me. I changed my address and missed out on some copies of the magazine, and they sent all of them right over. thumbs up from me

bclark 0 #22 February 15, 2008 Quote I am just stating the opinion alot of other people have offered about the USPA If you spend all day on your computer listening to people on this website bad is all you will hear. Funny, but people who are stuck at work thinking about skydiving, rather than at the DZ ACTUALLY SKYDIVING, tend to be in a bad mood and bitch about whatever they can. In my experience if you are having problems there is a reason. And instead of passing the buck and ASSUMING that the DZ can (or will) look up your membership online, I would continue to courteously work with USPA to rectify the issue. 12 jumps and a year in the sport is a pretty short period of time in which to develop any objective opinion. Especially in the last 5 years service has improved dramatically.

John, I have checked your membership status and you are a member. I doubt that USPA has not mailed your card, it may have been lost in the mail. I cannot answer why they have not answered your email but that may be an email issue. I will make sure that a replacement card is sent to you on Monday. I know that service to members is a very high priority at USPA HQ. Mike Mullins USPA National Director

James.UWE 0 #25 February 16, 2008 I paid online, but made a mistake. I emailed them and got a reply within 24hrs. My card arrived within 2 weeks (to the UK). I thought that was pretty good. The BPA are very quick but at over £150, a bit pricey
