A low-tech alternative may be to take 2 sticks with you, rub them together, make a fire and send a smoke signal in case you land out or injure yourself... I'm pretty sure smoke has a wider service area too. Ya' know, NASA spent something like 10 years and 10 million dollars, to develop a pen that would write in extreme cold or heat, at any angle and in zero-gravity........the Russians used a pencil. I have said for years that we can put a man on the moon, (39 years ago), and lander on Mars, but we still cant get good cell phone coverage, which is actaully a profitable business, unlike space travel. hmmm to the "I dont want to give in to technology" people in this thread...please stop wearing your seatbelts, turn off your airbag, disable your ABS, and loosen up your modern suspension...after all, you should be able to handle a car emergency without this stuff. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him? I dunno about anyone else....but when I hit the barakes, I do it for a reson....and I prefer them to work, not release. Anti-Stop Brakes is only one of the massive brain-farts, to waft across the auto industry. The new ARCS (Automatic Ride Control Systems) will take over all control of brakes, steering and suspension. It's a real Care Bear idea and naturally, it looks real good on paper but most cars, aren't made of paper. It might work, or it might just steer you into a wall or into the path of an oncoming tractor-trailer. "T'was ever thus."
