AFF 3rd Solo (Level 6) . . . Frightened & Nervous is an understatement!!

Your experience sounds VERY familiar... did you steal that from my log book? :D:D:D

Seriously though, de-arching and spinning were serious problems I had (3 level 6 jumps, 3 level 7 jumps). I even panicked and pulled at 7500' on one jump. My problem was not relaxing and doing toe taps, my legs were uneven causing the spin.

Talk to your instructors (again), and keep trying.... and try to relax (easier said than done as a student).... You landed safely and walked away, be happy with that!

I meant to reply to you ... sorry it took me a while.

Errr, not sure similar log books in this case is a good thing ... LOL!

I like reading your post. It totally puts a smile on my face and helps me to feel better with what I'm going through.

Yeah, landing and walking away safely is a great great thing for this gal!

I find it interesting (don't know what word to use) during AFF that a person does well in either FF/Arch or CC/Landing. I know some students nail it all right off the bat.

I have to stop watching YouTube AFF videos. It's not helping my self-confidence.

An old-timer skydiver on Friday told me that woman usually do well in FF/Arch but not in CC/Landing. If this is true, leave it to me to be on the other side of the fence ... LOL!

The funny thing is that my concern before my 1st solo was CC and Landing, and here I was able to land safely on my 2nd solo with no radio.

It never occured to me that FF in a stable arch would be so dam difficult! Those tandems gives a false sense of what's going on with my body. And I'm soooooo frustrated I can't control my body in the air. My mind knows what to do, but my body is not cooperating. I hope ... or should I say "I know", in time I'll be singing a different tune ;)

Look. You're on track - you have a grand total of about what... 12 minutes of learning in a performance-oriented sport during a high state of adrenaline. You'll find center on the bubble. Everyone has some one thing that jacked them up on their learning.

Lemmee tell you a bedtime story... Army helicopter pilots are taught to fly. At some point during their flying lessons, they have to learn how to hover. Usually, their Instructor will tell them something like, "Try to remember everything you did today because once you find the "Hover button," you'll never be able to do the aerobatics again that you did today. Sure enough, they'll be all over the sky, spinning, going up, backing up while spinning, etc. Some get it in a day or so, some take longer... and once they do find the "hover button," they can't do the magic they did trying to find it until much later.

Same thing here, you'll be creative till you find it and when you do... Well, you'll probably cry/laugh then too. :D

Let us know when you find the "hover button."

Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

Funny you mention a helicopter because on Friday at the DZ I was saying my nickname should be helicoptergirl ... LOL ... then someone said spinner ... which oddly enough I like and have in my profile :P

It never crossed my mind that I'd have a problem FF and Arching. It's freaking me out ... well I'm freaking myself out.

Yeah, when I find the "hover button" I'll cry with glee and laugh at myself ... I was freaked because of what? LOL! And I'll definitely post when I fall like a feather ;)

Thanks again for your support and words of encouragement! :)

As you can see, everyone had one hurdle or another to get past... don't worry about it, relax and enjoy the ride..
