Freefall365 0 #1 January 9, 2008 Looking for comments pro/con on the PAC 750. Forum search is mostly pro, but those post are about a year old or older. Trying to decide on a plane to bring in for a week long event in South Dakota in August. Event will be geared towards tandems, but all sport jumpers are welcome. The PAC sounds like it would be the best for cost and volume of jumpers. Also looking for DZs that have a PAC to contact. Thanks all.

skybytch 273 #4 January 9, 2008 Contact Ray Farrell (ray at actionair dot com). If he doesn't have a PAC available for your event he can probably point you to someone who will.
skymama 37 #5 January 9, 2008 Skydive DeLand has a PAC, I've jumped it many times. SD is kinda far, but August is pretty slow in Florida. Wouldn't hurt to give Bob Hallet a call, I guess. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
dfairleigh11 0 #6 January 9, 2008 Would this happen to be for a Sturgis boogie? I LOVE STUGIS! It rocks."We'll start the ass kissing with you"
lilchief 1 #7 January 9, 2008 We had the pac twice one year. Personally it was OK. As for a DZO Id guess its the best compromise. However, it takes some minutes more then an TO or similar."Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no
diablopilot 2 #8 January 9, 2008 What Twin Otter are you riding? I've never been on one that climbs as fast as a PAC750XL.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
druvaughn 0 #9 January 10, 2008 I'm a bigger jumper... I would say the Pac is a good ride, but I am more comfortable in the Otter, speaking of size. Raeford has a Pac, not sure if they lease or you are willing to pay the ferry costs. I wish you the best. Sincerely, Dru- - "Baseball is 90% mental. The other half is physical." VideoFly 0 #10 January 10, 2008 I’ve got hundreds of jumps out of our PAC 750 XL at Skydive Suffolk. It’s fast with enough room (not as roomy as an Otter) and a good size door. It’s a great plane!
voodew1 0 #11 January 10, 2008 for what its worth -- an otter or caravan is a much nicer ride --- more comfy and less prop blast The Pac is super fast and super uncomfortable with a stereo that songs like total crap Spend 2 more minutes in an otter and be much happier my opinion - I have heard of others that love the Pac The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
Freefall365 0 #12 January 10, 2008 QuoteWould this happen to be for a Sturgis boogie? I LOVE STUGIS! It rocks. Yes this is for the Sturgis MC Rally Aug 4th - 10th. Last year the plan was to have Mullins King Air come but that didn't work out. A Beech 99 was brought in last minute. Trying to find something a bit more efficient for cost and fuel. AndyMan 7 #13 January 10, 2008 The Pac is not the most ideal jumpship by any standards - the ceiling is quite low in the back, there's risk of tail strike, and there's a bump in the floor that makes sitting in the front bench seats not so comfy. That said, it's fast, it turns a lot of loads quickly, and it's one of the least expensive turbines to run. For me, the financing of running it balances out all the negatives, because as a jumper it means my DZO will fire it up when before he'd keep the Otter parked. Chicagoland (CSC) or SkyKnights in Milwaukee may be the closest PAC to South Dakota. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Climb to altitude is approx. 10-11 mins (same as a PAC) - next year N30EA will have the same engines with 4 blade props for extra performance
diablopilot 2 #15 January 10, 2008 AFAIK the 4 blade prop doesn't increase or decrease performance, simply changes the noise signature.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
siddacious 0 #16 January 10, 2008 I've enjoyed the times I've flown in the Skydance PAC, and from what I hear it's pretty cheap to run. peckerhead 0 #18 January 10, 2008 There aint no way an otter will beat a PAC750 to altitude. What are you smoking? I want some!
lilchief 1 #19 January 10, 2008 Then maybe it was the pilots who didn't know how to fly it fast. But it took 20min to altitude. When thinking of it..IN Deland they have a Pac. It didn't take any longer then the TO i think. I don't remeber right know. It must have been some of socks that I've been smoking I could send you some 3week old socks "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no
larrypen 0 #20 January 10, 2008 If a PAC750 took 20 mins to Alt. it was a time builder flying it. I have had a full load on a 100 degree day an it only took 13 mins. And for the people that say its not comfortable as they would like. Could be true but I wish jumps were still 10 bucks also. If you can get one for your boogie you will not be disappointed when you write the check at the end of the weekend and low and behold you still have some money left.. schwede 0 #21 January 10, 2008 We have had the PAC for two seasons now. It is simply perfect for tandems, freefly, FS4-way and student jumping. When it comes to larger groups there are some differences in comparison to the TO or Caravan, you cant put too many in the door. But w/o benches you can still launch a 12 - 16 way within 2 sec, with a little exit training. Economy - its all about the pricing, but to mention in Sweden we are not the cheapest and not the most expensiest either and for us it has really been a fairytale come through - so much that we for this season bought a 2nd one. We can get off ground with either 1 tandem or at least 6 - 8 jumpers inside and still earn money.Schwede "Das Leben ist schön, nicht immer aber immer öfter"
kingbunky 3 #22 January 10, 2008 i was in deland last spring, and on one load it was just our 4-way and vidiot. we were 9 minutes from wheels up to exit. i think the climb rate with a light load even surprised the pilot, because we were flying level at altitude for a bit to get to the spot. very cool plane imho.
