pull at right altitude / track to avoid collision

I prefer to break off the jump a little higher and leave some more wiggle room.

Excellent. Always stay in your experience and comfort range. Problems do occur and you need to have the time to deal with them. Nobody should make that decision for anyone else.

Just fyi, here is a staged breakoff plan for 100+ ways. Trust me, this scares you silly. :D

The first group tracked the farthest and dumped lower so that the next group would not catch them. It makes an umbrella shape.

BREAK-OFF:
· Break-off sequence will be briefed and practiced before each dive.
· The Base will signal break-off by deploying a canopies at 6000ft.
· Track flat, straight and hard to assigned altitudes.

Break Off #1 6000 ft First Wave deploy 2200-2300 ft.
Break Off #2 5500 ft Second Wave deploy 2400-2500 ft.
Break Off #3 5000 ft Third Wave deploy 2500-2600 ft.
Break Off #4 4600 ft Forth Wave deploy 2600-2700 ft.

Being in the second or third wave would scare me silly! Especially if there's a slow tracker in front of you and a fast one behind you...

I've done about ten 35-45 way jumps over the last 6 weeks, and I can tell you that the first couple scared the shit outta me (and massively improved my tracking ;)).

Fortunately, I'm 6'3" and 202lbs out the door, so I have a bit of a natural advantage... despite my less than perfect technique I can still out-track many/most folk.

Being scared is definitely healthy. :D

Sometimes there are people that do not track straight or they are not good with directions. If you are built to flat-track and stay high, they may track across your path and a little low. Check for them by looking underneath each armpit as you track off.

Pop up as you turn for breakoff, find a clear spot, track like a bandit, check for traffic as you go.
