Kiakambala 0 #3 December 16, 2007 well my doctor told me that it would not be a cause for concern as its just naturally low its not caused by any illness or disease
p_mckenna 0 #4 December 16, 2007 Doubt that this will be a problem, yet always wise to check this out with anyone who has knowlegde about the subject, I would suggest to call also the dropzonw where you plan to jump and ask them if they have experience with this? kschilk 0 #5 December 16, 2007 I have naturally low bp and have had no problems. Thing is, your bp is gonna' go up anyway so it oughta' get you to slightly above "normal", during the jump."T'was ever thus."
AKCrash 0 #6 December 16, 2007 I am an EMT and this is my personal opinion. Consulting a physician give you a better insight. The concern with blood pressure would take effect as you are climbing. Considering that Oxygen has high density, the Oxygen percentage will decrease as you are elevating in the sky. Since you are doing tandem, 10,000ft to 15,000ft exit altitude, the decrease in Oxygen will be very mild. The effect of this, if it had any, will be elevating the blood pressure as your heart will speed up the gas exchange in your lungs to overcome the decrease which was caused by the height. Without going into too much details, I personally believe that your blood pressure will be elevated as a consequence to the jump. I personally notice elevation in my blood pressure after I jump. I hope you will enjoy your jump -Amer"Those who would give up Essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety" Franklin
skydiverek 63 #7 December 16, 2007 How low? 120/80 is normal.
skydiverek 63 #9 December 16, 2007 Wow! That IS low... There are some medicines that can make it go up, to normal, though. So, right now, if you were fighting with a horseshoe while freefalling thru 1500 feet, it would be around 100/60 ?

Beerlight 0 #11 December 17, 2007 I hate being a technical SOB, but the "percentage" of oxygen doesn't decrease. Oxygen partial pressure will decrease, however percentage remains the same....... Maybe thats what you meant?
