A1CSpooky 0 #1 December 11, 2007 The subject pretty much says it all. Your first truly solo piloting job of your chute did you stand it up? What size shoot were you flying at the time? Spooky
diablopilot 2 #2 December 11, 2007 More than half of my AFF students stand their first landing. It's not difficult, and it's not a goal you should shoot for.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. moto89 0 #3 December 11, 2007 Yes. I believe it was a Silhouette 260 loaded at .6 ish.Less talking, more flying.
headoverheels 333 #4 December 11, 2007 No. It was a 28ft flat circular canopy, though.
trippin 0 #5 December 11, 2007 yes, stood it up, 260 or 230 main not sure
pilotdave 0 #6 December 11, 2007 Nope... close, but had a little too much speed. Canopy was a 170. I had a radio, but the instructor didn't talk to me (he told me he wouldn't unless I messed up). Dave
angrypeppers 1 #7 December 11, 2007 Nope, and it was a Navigator260. I didn't really worry too much about it. Good if you do, PLF if you don't.Burn the land and boil the sea, You can't take the sky from me.
billvon 2,990 #8 December 11, 2007 I was a pilot and I didn't stand it up - but that was partly because we were jumping DC-5's. It was generally a mistake to try.
deadbug 0 #9 December 11, 2007 Yes, I think it was a manta 288 I'd have to check the log book. With about 40 jumps I won a inpromptu accuracy contest on a borrowed XL cloud that I had never jumped. Even a blind squrrel I guess go figure. Doug
Cantoral 1 #10 December 11, 2007 No. It was a PD 9 cell 190, before this jump I made 30 jumps with a T-10 round canopy so I felt I was going to fast to the ground and I decided to PLF. Cielos Azules

Cielos Azules Ok sorry, but what is PLF? I've been trying different words and the only thing that keeps popping into my head is Poo Less Fart. gearless_chris 1 #13 December 11, 2007 How do you stand up a landing in the plane?"If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.

jimjumper 25 #16 December 12, 2007 No, but 230lbs. under a T-10 it was to be expected.
Zing 2 #17 December 12, 2007 That's PLF Parachute Landing Fall ... as opposed to the commonly performed PFL, the Pisspoor Fucking Landing. Come to think of it, I did stand it up my first jump, on a ParaCommander. It was a tippy-toe soft landing on Terra Firma ... after smashing through the tops of Elm and Poplar trees about 40 feet tall.Zing Lurks

Spooky Yes, stood up my first, but think that was mostly luck and someone calling my flare via the radio. I found that being a pilot sometimes worked as a "disadvantage" on more than a couple occasions. ie. Ya can't fly a big ass pattern like in a plane or add power when you get into trouble.... edit to add: Can you fill out your profile....

mktoson 0 #21 December 12, 2007 I'm starting to think that you are putting too much emphasis on you being a pilot and those skills transferring over to skydiving. If you're a , how well does those skills transfer over to skydiving? We get those questions all the time, no different than yours. So far, this is the oldest I've ever been. I apologize, I'm not intentionally trying to, but I guess I've just worked myself into a frenzy about starting and I guess I was just looking to see what someone with a similar aviation background had experienced. CSpenceFLY 1 #25 December 13, 2007 When you are going through your training you wear a radio so your instructor can talk to you when you are under canopy. The first couple of jumps they talk you through your flair.
