DannHuff 0 #1 November 29, 2007 A TV piece on the World cup swooping event recently held in Sydney, Australia. Aired nationally on Austalian TV tonite, in prime time. Actually is positive overall. The reporter does an AFF jump and tumbles on exit. http://video.msn.com/?mkt=en-au&brand=ninemsn&tab=m164 Click on "Skydive terror" video clip.
Baksteen 84 #2 November 29, 2007 Positive indeed! He even admits it's his own mistake that induces the tumble I wonder though.. Will he continue with the AFF program? "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom
hackish 8 #3 November 29, 2007 I found the clip thinking it would be something bad and blown out of proportion. Fortunately I think it was fairly positive. An "in air emergency" and "terror" is great for them to get people's attention... -Michael
BIGUN 1,407 #4 November 29, 2007 I wonder if having the student leave with their sides presented to the relative wind results in the tumbling often?Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

diablopilot 2 #6 November 29, 2007 I prefer training students with a full climb out exit. It's more realistic to what they will be doing later in skydiving. Well done by the instructors, reserve side had the option of letting go, but I don;t think their decision changed the skydive much.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. It's a good point, but isn't an AFF level 1 dive hard enough without the tumbling act on the first dive and their increased fear factor for the first few seconds? QuoteWell done by the instructors, reserve side had the option of letting go, but I don;t think their decision changed the skydive much. Yup. I watched it a couple of times. The first time I wondered why the reserve side didn't break off, but then after watching it again, it was probably right around the point that s/he was thinking about getting off that it shook out.Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard. moto89 0 #8 November 29, 2007 Looked to me like they did a great job of getting it stable and under control. Less talking, more flying.
