pilotdave 0 #5 October 14, 2007 Anything that was popular on the radio in '98 to '99. That's what was playing at the DZ when I was a student, waiting around all day to jump. I associate a bunch of those songs with skydiving. Dave

angrypeppers 1 #10 October 15, 2007 I listened to Dragonforce on the drive to the DZ during my AFF. It was a ritual. Now, it's Rise Against. Either one reminds me of jumping.Burn the land and boil the sea, You can't take the sky from me.

FlyingBlueJay 0 #14 October 16, 2007 Jessica by the Allman Brothers... I put the windows down and crank it up every time on the final leg of my trip to the DZ.There is an art, or rather a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning to throw yourself at the ground and miss. Pick a nice day, and try it. - Douglas Adams
Baksteen 84 #16 October 17, 2007 Last sunday i had a close call. Still shaken, I dropped my chute in the packing area and went to sit in the bar for a while. When I entered, this song was coming over the radio: "Opportunity," by Pete Murray And so it goes another lonely day Your savin time but your miles away Your fly was drownin in some bitter tea For seeing lost opportunity Find your mirror go and look inside And see the talent you always hide Don't go kidd yourself well not today Satisfaction's not to far away Hold on now your exits here It's waiting just for you Don't pause too long It's fading now It's ending all too soon you'll see Soon you'll see Your coffee's warm but your milk is sour Life is short but your here to flower Dream yourself along another day Never miss opportunity Don't be scared of what you cannot see Your only fear is possibility Never wonder what the hell went wrong Your second chance may never come along Hold on now your exits here It's waiting just for you Don't pause too long It's fading now It's ending all too soon you'll see Soon you'll see Hold on now your exits here It's waiting just for you Don't pause too long It's fading now It's ending all too soon you'll see Soon you'll see [x5]"That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom

wmw999 2,447 #18 October 17, 2007 Yeah, for me it's whatever was popular on the radio in the fall of 1978. I was working as a packer/rigger at a DZ then. I want to kiss you all over Paradise by the dashboard lights Three times a lady Hot child in the city Copacabana Hot blooded You get the picture.... FTP_07 0 #19 October 19, 2007 Static X - Push It. Song I heard when I went to do my very first jump (tandem) and it seemed so perfect. I usually have Static X playing on the way to the zone. Course, I try to fit in Mudvayne with 'Not Falling', Stabbing Westward 'Save Yourself', Velvet Revolver 'Fall to Pieces', Atreyu 'Becoming the Bull', few others. It's usually anything fast and metal. If I think of any others I'll reply again. :)
crazydiver 0 #20 October 19, 2007 Definitely Sublime, since I don't think there is a dropzone in the country that doesn't play that. But thinking back to my student days I used to listen to Moe a lot at the DZ and on the way to the DZ. If you haven't listened to Moe...check them out. Cheers, Travis
JeepDiver 0 #21 October 19, 2007 Learning to Fly Into the distance, a ribbon of black Stretched to the point of no turning back A flight of fancy on a windswept field Standing alone my senses reeled A fatal attraction holding me fast, how Can I escape this irresistible grasp? Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies Tongue-tied and twisted Just an earth-bound misfit, I Ice is forming on the tips of my wings Unheeded warnings, I thought I thought of everything No navigator to guide my way home Unladened, empty and turned to stone A soul in tension that's learning to fly Condition grounded but determined to try Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies Tongue-tied and twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I Friction lock - set. Mixture - rich Propellers - fully forward Flaps - set - 10 degrees Engine gauges and suction - check Mixture set to maximum percent - recheck Flight instruments... Altimeters - check both (garbled word) - on Navigation lights - on Strobes - on (to tower): Confirm 3-8-Echo ready for departure (tower): Hello again, this is now 129.4 (to tower): 129.4. It's to go. (tower): You may commence your takeoff, winds over 10 knots. (to tower): 3-8-Echo Easy on the brakes. Take it easy. Its gonna roll this time. Just hand the power gradually, and it... Above the planet on a wing and a prayer, My grubby halo, a vapour trail in the empty air, Across the clouds I see my shadow fly Out of the corner of my watering eye A dream unthreatened by the morning light Could blow this soul right through the roof of the night There's no sensation to compare with this Suspended animation, A state of bliss Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies Tongue-tied and twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I and Third Eye Blind › Jumper
