Hi all

IM off to empuria brava next march to do my AFF course COME ON, well excited.

Im a kean photographer and want to get in to the photrograhphy side of skydiving. I have been told that you can't start the photography till you have atleast 200 jumps under year belt, does this mean you cant start jumping with a camera on your head till then? or just can't start a job in skydiving photography?

Any advise would be awsome

cheers Curly

That is correct. You simply won't (or shouldn't) be allowed to jump with a camera.

There is a dedicated photography forum here: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?forum=7;do=forum_view_collapsed;

Also a paticularly relevant thread here: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2636266;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread

Sometimes here in the states it is taken on a case by case basis at the dropzone. Having said that, You will really need to work on your skydiving skills first. There is alot more to it then strapping a camera on you head and making a skydive. The first thing that comes to mind is having a malfunction and having something snaged on your camera. If I would have had a mal with a snag when I was first jumping camera I probably would have died. Learn from the mistakes of others and live to have a log time in the sport.

Im in the UK at the mo, but plan to finally move to NZ. Why do ya ask?

There are different regulations in different parts of the world. Most I think suggest a skydiver wait until a certain level of proficiency is obtained before jumping camera equipment.
