huckfinn 0 #26 August 23, 2007 Reply to all, I guess on this forum I'm in the minority :>), but for arguments sake... if I go on a commercial fishing trip, or take skiing lessons, or get help with my bags at a hotel, I tip and I would include skydiving instruction in this group. I mean, are you saying that if you want to get into this line of work it should only be about the satisfaction of spreading the "skydive" love? Why charge at all? I know the groovy feeling that comes with introducing someone to the sport, but should that preclude a tip? I also am perplexed by tipping in general that occurs here in the U.S., but that's another discussion.

AFFI 0 #28 August 24, 2007 QuoteHey guys I am brand new to skydiving... Andrew Hey Andrew, First off, welcome to the sport – stay safe and have fun! That means you are probably new to these forums as well eh? This tip may help you out a lot when you are looking for information. In the upper right hand quadrant of the DZ.com browser window that is a search function that works really well and is useful when seeking out information. I did a search: Your search for tipping instructors returned 162 results http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=search_results&search_forum=all&search_string=tipping%20instructors&sb=score&mh=25Mykel AFF-I10 Skydiving Priorities: 1) Open Canopy. 2) Land Safely. 3) Don’t hurt anyone. 4) Repeat…

So true. Appreciated but not "required" as things stand today. Funny story: My Mom, a waitress for years and years, had a regular customer that was very rude consistently tipped a dime. She finally got tired of his BS. One day he came on and ordered, "Gimme some god-damned eggs with fuckin' bacon." She brought the order, slapped them down on the table so hard that the eggs and bacon jumped off the plate into his lap and said, "Here's your god-damned eggs and your fucking bacon and you can keep your shit-assed dime." He, after a moment of stunned silence, finally laughed and always left her a $2 tip every day after that. My reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus. You mean to tell me that you can't buy dinner with good times, special new friends, and a feeling of acomplishment? Maybe you're eating in the wrong restaurant.
