ntrprnr 0 #1 August 20, 2007 http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1359315977673753438&hl=en I shot this yesterday. No names needed - Jumper's fine, albeit a bit bruised. I guess the lesson is to watch where you are before you leave so you know where you'll be headed as you head to the door? The lesson could probably be stated more eloquently than that, but I'm tired and about to board a flight._______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" I dont think it's an AFF jump... if it is, interesting direction the "student" is facing! ! lol EDIT: But, still, buy him a beer! Remster
Myrka 0 #4 August 20, 2007 Looks like AFF to me... seems that the guy in the door is doing prop/up/down/arch... was it???
BillyVance 34 #5 August 20, 2007 That's probably going to leave a mark!! I broke my radius bone near the wrist diving out of an Otter on a 100 way dive 9 years ago. Near the end of the line, we start shuffling towards the door on exit, I stumbled or something and fell towards my left and stuck out my left arm to keep from banging my shoulder on the door frame... POW... hurt like a mother fucker I'll tell you that much. However... a certain plane incident a few years ago involving a 4 way head down group and a Porter diving down with it, resulted in one jumper tracking right into the bulkhead of the porter on breakoff, caving in the bulkhead and breaking one of the structural ribs. I shit you not. The jumper was okay, just had some fabric burn on his rig. He was very lucky. The plane was able to make it back to the ground in one piece though. PhreeZone 20 #8 August 20, 2007 The Ready - Set - Go of a 4 way launching potentially an N (crank) or the start of a 2 (Sidebody donut). It could be a 7 but I can't see the back grips to tell). But my money is on them launching a 22 (Tee- Chinese Tee). The depending on how they are flying the formation it was probally the point flyer is the one that slams into the backwall where as the Outside center, Inside center and the Tail already outside the door.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
rehmwa 2 #9 August 20, 2007 Looks like only 3 people (in a reverse AFF level 1 formation). If it's a 4way, the only thing that fits that picture is 2 launch. ... airathanas 0 #10 August 20, 2007 Looks like they should have gotten closer to the formation by bending their knees. Their butt is sticking out too far (maybe it's the wide angle lens, I'm not sure). They were a little late on the the count and could have arched a bit more, getting their legs up and out of the plane sooner. Still, I'm sure they didn't mean it and we all make mistakes. I hope they're alright. http://3ringnecklace.com/
PhreeZone 20 #11 August 20, 2007 I think its a 22, I just looked at the NSL site and 22 was one of the rounds first points in th Advanced group. It looks like they are trying to launch the 22 with the sidebody and have the OC? release and pick up the cat grips off the door. My guess is they put 3 out with the tail low, deep in the door and out of frame, the OC is seen releasing and flying out and the IC and point are the main thing in the frame. How sad is it that this is all I picked this up by flying camera for less then 100 RW team jumps. Not bad for a dirty freeflier huh? rehmwa 2 #13 August 20, 2007 QuoteIf its a 22, they sure have an interesting exit! If that's the case, then I'm assuming the guy that conked his hip was to end up on the tail of that cat. I think I do see an extra hand next to his on the center guy's leg. That must be the other person out of sight..... Pretty 'interesting' way to launch a 22. A little coaching goes a long way. Even for the best way to launch stuff. It helps to get a team video of the top teams. 22 launch can be pretty idiot proof when done correctly. However, we've done "non-suggested" exits just for the fun factor, especially when we've had a good lead in a meet. ... PhreeZone 20 #16 August 20, 2007 This would have been one of the weirdest 22 exits I can think of. The more and more I watch it the harder time I have in believe its a 22. My original viewing convinced me that the one that hit the door was on the sidebody since he's got an arm and leg grip already and the one in the front of the door outside appears to let go completely to fly for the cat but looking in really slowmo I can see a 4th person beside the side body thats facing out. That would line it up as a 2.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
jakee 1,489 #17 August 20, 2007 Ok, that guy that hit the door was so far inside the plane that he took two steps before actually diving out. How did they ever think that exit was going to work??Do you want to have an ideagasm?

There must be 4 - the guy on the outside and the guy in the door would have trouble taking grips. Looks like a very odd attempt at a 2. Next time they gotta stack up further forward in the door! I did a skills camp at El'Snore. I think we launched an 8 way chunk, me being furthest inside front. When we put it in the mockup, I was lined up in front of the door, all I could see was fuselage. I was a little nervous about pulled into the frame of the door on exit. The coaches said it will be fine. By the time the rest of the chunk was off/out of the plane, I was pulled back easily clearing the door. What a ride.50 donations so far. Give it a try.
