Myrka 0 #1 August 12, 2007 Hello all: Couple of month ago I did my first tandem jump, and even before the parachute opened I knew I was hooked. Since then I’ve been doing AFF, and it has been challenging at best LOL (11 jumps and still on level 7). I’m not discouraged, if anything, it makes me fall in love with the sport more and more (despite going a little broke)… Unfortunately, my PLFs were more like PL-whacks (flare too high), and now my ankles are paying the price. My last landing left me with torn top/bottom ligaments in my right foot. While recovery is somewhat slow, I can’t wait to go back and finish AFF7. But to protect my ankles, I’d like to start wearing braces. Does anyone here use ankle/foot braces to avoid and protect from injuries as such, and if yes, which kind would you recommend? They’re not all created equal, so any input is much appreciated. (I've never had a problem whilst skydiving... but they're just in case). (.)Y(.) My ortho suggested this ASO brace to give some support. I have a friend that uses this one. Your Ortho would be your best source of info since s/he knows your condition. Don't push too fast. I’m due for PT in about a week, so I’ll be sure to talk to my ortho about it. Monkycndo, I “neglected” tell my doc it was due to skydiving (insurance worries ), so I’ll find a way to work it into the conversation at my next visit, but wanted to get the input from the pros… Thanks again!!
