treeman 0 #1 November 6, 2004 can this type of spinning mal occur in larger canopies?

Reginald 0 #3 November 7, 2004 My one cutaway was under a spining mal on a sabre2 190. I was suprised that it could happen under this large of a canopy and how strong the g's were."We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
JohnMitchell 16 #4 November 7, 2004 Yes, any canopy can have a spinning malfunction, from a little to a lot, but the lighter the wing loading, the slower it should spin for any given malfunction. A light wing loading should have a hard time spinning you up uncontrollably, like some of the really bad mals you may have read or heard about.
mattjw916 2 #5 November 8, 2004 I have been briskly spun a couple of times on a Sabre2 190 and once on my Safire 189... both loaded lightly at 1.1. In all cases I was able to correct/counter the spin and/or get the end cells to inflate before any significant speed built up. YMMV.NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
