In most cases, yes. I've been involved in maybe a dozen life-threatening and fatal injuries at the DZ, and only once did the situation warrant CPR. Fortunately, at all the other incidents, either myself or someone more experienced was there to prevent overzealous first responders from pulling helmets off, starting rescue breathing etc.

Sometimes the hardest thing to do at a serious accident is nothing. We all want to help our friends, but sometimes that help can make a bad situation worse.
