sayrepolice 0 #1 June 8, 2007 Im still going through my IAF training right now, but I have a chance to get a used chute but I dont know if it will work for a begginer because its a CRW chute. Its a 1990 Precision Interceptor 250. I weigh 200# right now. I was just wondering the difference between a CRW vs. a Non CRW chute, and if this would be a good purchase for me. Thanks for the help. airtwardo 7 #2 June 8, 2007 If it's in REALLY good condition it would be a fairly good 'begginer' main...large and docile. The CRW mod usually means there are no cascades in the lines and some may be color coded, nothing you would need to be cautious about. But it IS 17 years old and IIRC made of F-111, which tends to lose it's original porosity after a lot of jumps....do you know how many are on it? What kind of price is it going for? Was it 'really' used fr a lot of CRW??? Those guys eat their young! ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~
sayrepolice 0 #3 June 8, 2007 All I know about it is that it was used for some competition in 94 and has been in storage for 9 years. Around $400 for the complete setup including altimeter?

phoenixlpr 0 #5 June 8, 2007 Stay away from CRW canopies. Those are not for student. That is a well known fact that CRW canopies not designed from landing. Id not buy an accuracy or old F1-11 canopy either. Get a ZP or a hybrid canopy!

DJL 235 #12 June 8, 2007 Don't buy it. There's plenty of nicer stuff out there. Also, that's overpriced for gear that old. I've given away canopies newer than that just to get new jumpers under a canopy until they can save up and figure out what they want."I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Then again, it's a complete rig for 400.00 not 'just' a canopy. ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~
iowa 0 #14 June 8, 2007 The H/C and reserve may be worth the $400. What are they? The intercepter, not worth much. Keith ''Always do sober what you said you would do drunk. That will teach you to keep your mouth shut.'' - Ernest Hemingway
