okalb 104 #1 April 10, 2007 Does anyone know if there is any software available to design rw formations? I used to have something years ago, but I have no idea what happened to it. I am looking to design 40-ways so the stuff that uses the standard 4, 8 and 16 way dive pools won't work for me. Thanks -OKTime flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana

Rick 67 #7 April 10, 2007 I saw a board once that had little magnetic figures to move around in different formations. It was cool but I have no idea where it came from. When my son was little he had a toy called a magna doodle that was very similar. You can't be drunk all day if you don't start early!
mwolfe 0 #8 April 11, 2007 Ok, this can get very complicated so read carefully. First, decide on how many people will actually be on the skydive. Second, close your eyes. Third, imagine what it would be like if the skydive you are about to create would actually work. Fourth, realize that the skydive needs to be much less complicated. Fifth, design the skydive using your tried and true method of PENCIL not pen. You know the numbers won't stay the same. Sixth, call for the dirt dive - don't forget to bring your skydive design with you to the dirt dive. Seventh, show everyone on the dirt dive how great it would be if they could actually do the dive you spent all this time designing by showing them the picture. Eight, count how many people actually showed up for the dirt dive - this WILL NOT be the same number of stick figures on your nice drawing. Ninth, comtemplate why you spend so much time drawing this nice formation - don't take to long doing this - your organizees might think you want a beer. Tenth, pull another formation out your A#$ like you have done for years and go have a good time. Quote

okalb 104 #10 April 11, 2007 Hey aren't you the guy that USED to organize at z-hills This is actually for an invitational thing that I am doing jackass. Just for that, I am scratching your name off the invite list! Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana

ZigZagMarquis 9 #12 April 11, 2007 Geeze, what ever happend to books? Did the books of (RW) formations Falling Together and Blocking Together, a book of all randoms and a book of all blocks, respectively, go out of print?
DougH 270 #13 April 11, 2007 The smaller formation ones did. I would love to get my hands on an old copy!! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
okalb 104 #14 April 11, 2007 I have both books and they are awesome (and I think out of print). But I am looking to create my own formations that are in my head and I wanted something better than stick figures to illustrate them with. Also if I have them on my computer I can play around with dragging people around to figure out the easiest transition from point to point. Which will save a lot of headaches on bigger stuff.Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana

ZigZagMarquis 9 #16 April 11, 2007 Can Jan's program show what happens when the formation funnels?
MakeItHappen 15 #17 April 11, 2007 Quote Can Jan's program show what happens when the formation funnels? yes. And it can also illustrate 3d moves. It also has some nifty features of a wacker tool, star tool, reflect thru centerpoint tool that make it very easy to create the bigger way dives. IOW, you do not have to place each jumper individually. That web site again was DiveMaker.com PS You can also print to pdf and do screen captures to put formations on a web site. .. ZigZagMarquis 9 #18 April 11, 2007 Jan, Any thougths of making it "share ware"... i.e. FREE. Maybe a free version that only does 2 to 20-ways? Another question... looks like you have all the 4-Way Randoms, but only the 4-Way Blocks that are currently in the Dive Pool. Any thought of posting all the possible 4-Way Blocks?
