Thijs 0 #1 February 3, 2007 Hi, I have a question for the manifest people who are here. 1) How do you get paid for doing the manifest? Cash, jumptickets... 2) Does the amount of payment depends on how long jumping continues, or do you get paid the same, even if it is raining all day. 3) Is your manifesting regulated with an official working contract? (don't know how to call it) 4) How big is your dz (maybe just tell which planes there are used and what there capacity is)? 5) Are you happy with your payment or not? 6) How is the general attitude of the local people at your dz towards the manifest? I did a search for this but couldn't find anything that really helped me. Thanks Thijs Deschepper

SansSuit 1 #3 February 4, 2007 Yeah, that's it. We don't get paid. We just do it for the tips. Peace, -Dawson. http://www.SansSuit.com The Society for the Advancement of Naked Skydiving

popsjumper 2 #6 February 5, 2007 Kinda hard when you have to deal with skydivers all day. My reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus. Falcon5232, SCS8170, SCSA353, POPS9398, DS239
popsjumper 2 #7 February 5, 2007 This is just for my home DZ: 1. No pay - all volunteer work except occasionally the DZO will throw in a freebie jump. 2. Pay is the same rain or shine. 3. No contracts. 4. Grand Caravan running average 10 loads/day, 15-18 jumpers/load 5. Happy as can be. 6. One of the best-attitude DZs in the state...but then both of them have great attitudes around Georgia. Can't speak for the third one...it's a non-entity as far as most of us are concerned. Are you planning on becooming a manifest bitch? My life ambition has been realized - DZ Bum! My reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus. Spatula 0 #8 February 5, 2007 I worked manifest for a summer to offset the cost of jumping. Here's how it went for me: -$100 per day, flat rate -started @ 7:30am, done after last load and all student rigs/tandems packed and put away and register/computer closed out/staff paid out -If it rains I got nothing usually (sometimes $50 if I spent time answering phones and rescheduling) -DZ was moderate size...In the summer we run a Super Otter for about 15-25 loads or more if we were lucky -Attitude towards manifest was good for the most part, instructors sometimes got picky as to what size students they took, who the jumped with (other instructors, etc), how many jumps they were getting...overall not too bad though. -I often times had to help pack student rigs and vidiots rigs in between all that. -I was only tipped by a select few who once worked where I did and it was greatly appreciated. Hope that helps.
