Fast 0 #2 January 31, 2007 My club charges $75 a year for dues and you get a buck off every jump. You get to vote on who is running things and who can be a member. We also jump a turbine.~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. llkenziell 0 #3 January 31, 2007 My club charges $30 which includes gear rental for the semester (also weekly packing classes). We're increasing our dues to $50 next semester though. CSpenceFLY 1 #4 January 31, 2007 You would also need to know what kind of club.Is it a club that runs a DZ or just operates at a DZ .
Spatula 0 #5 January 31, 2007 Our club charges $55 I think. Gets you a vote in the elections and I think that's about it. We may get some $$ off jumps but I don't remember...just a way to support the club to improve the DZ, amenities, etc..

(U.S. only please) I wonder what KIND of clubs there are out there these days?! The club I belonged to 25 years ago was a great set up. We were incorporated and it was a 1500.00 initial buy in, and 150.00 dues a year. Being a corporation, all the assets were equally 'owned' by all the members, including the aircraft...a 182. If you were a member in good standing, you didn't pay ANYTHING to jump, as far as lift tickets. You were required to work a rotation training students, and expected to sell Parachute Demos and jump them, all the accounts receivable went into the fuel, the annual for the aircraft, gear updating etc... It was a neat little deal because in effect we were ALL somewhat a DZO, seldom were there arguments about much of anything because we all were concerned with the 'bottom line'. If you want to continue jumping a lot, there isn't much discussion needed...everyone was focused on not tearing up the airplane, keeping money coming in, and not getting hurt. On the other hand, there was another 'club' a couple of counties over from ours that was more of a 'status' you might say. It was about 100.00 a year to belong, you got a Tee Shirt, a buck off your jumps and they paid your USPA membership. What 'kind' of clubs are there now, and what are the benefits of membership? ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~
skydave114 0 #7 February 1, 2007 It seems club DZ's are few and far between. At mine, the dues just went up to $87.50. You get a buck-a-jump, and a vote to re-elect the bod members. There used to be a couple college clubs that jumped here, but they haven't been active in several years.
