So I have a packing course in a week's time.

Recommended Posts

Just asking because i jump at langar and i am booked on for a packing course next week, would be interested to find out myself. From what i beleive i think that they teach you the packing course (think it a whole day) then they will tell you to go away and practice. Once you are confident in packing then an experienced or qualified packer/rigger will then sit in on a few packjobs critique you and tell you any good/bad points and then when you have done quite a few packjobs with no errors or mistakes i think you then jump it but i dont know that for definate, any further input from an instructor greatly appreciated!!!

Wow, too bad you guys weren't in my area. I know about 20 people that would teach you for free including myself. [:/]

A fee-based packing course is ridiculous.

Next thing your going to tell us is that you never paid for coach jumps and got your class A for under $800!;);):D:D;)

Include me in that group willing to teach you to pack for free if you were in my area!

I would never say no to someone teaching me for free, but I don't really know anyone who jumps and can teach me how to pack, plus after just 5 jumps this would pay itself..

Isn't it part of the training over there to learn how to pack? Seems wierd, oh well. I don't know anything about the training overseas...:S There isn't anyone at your DZ that will teach ya for a case of beer?

I guess my best advice is to not be a stranger at your DZ, stay after dark, drink a few with the "old-timers." maybe go on a rainy day if people are there, just to chat. It is fun, trust me B|

Good luck, and blue skies!

maybe maybe not. if you are trying to get your pcking certificate and not just a logbook endorsment you need to do basic maintanance like 3 ring maintanance and learn how to do the tangel test. then need someone (instructor or rigger) to actually do the test with you. probably not easy at a busy dz. learning form loads of different people in small chunks can get confusing with everyone having their own slightly different method. getting it all from one source in one go could work out a lot better for some people.
