However, I interpreted the question as relating to right vs left, rather than upwind vs downwind.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one. We recently had two fatalities where the person just plain didn't see the one other person who was a factor. Landing in the same pattern, in the same direction, can avoid such incidents.
