ZigZagMarquis 9 #26 December 29, 2006 QuoteI'll be in Eloy the 9th-12th. While at Eloy, don't land on the grass, land out in the desert, it will make packing new ZP easier.
AFFI 0 #27 December 29, 2006 Quoteif you are at home vacuum pack - yep use a vacuum cleaner by sticking it between the lines and this will suck the air out and hold it until you get it in the bag I have never heard of this before - I have images in my head of the canopy getting sucked into and twirrrrrled around the rotating brusher bar, then getting knocked over and spilling dirt and yucky old vaccccumed up stuff all over a container. marks2065 0 #28 December 29, 2006 farmer started vacuum packing at sdi and it works great once you stop the slider from sucking in - the vacuum pack does open a little slower like an extra 100 feet - it was the only way i could get my katana in the bag for the first 10 packs - it doesn't suck the entire canopy in just takes the air out

At the end of the day when you learn the hard way you will be able to pack most things in the future Billy-Sonic Haggis Flickr-Fun
playgroundguy 0 #31 December 30, 2006 Thanks for all the good info folks! I had my DZO/Master rigger come out yesterday for 3 hours and that SOB s-folded it and put it right in the bag in about 3 seconds. He had me cacoon, s-fold, stuff in bag repeat several times using the normal methods. The trick, I found, was forearms, knees, and my giant hands to control the fabric. I'm not nearly as quick as him yet but it was very helpful to have him come out. So now MY advice to anyone with packing problems is to get someone to help you who has patience and is a good teacher. I'm still debating whether or not to pay a packr while in Eloy as I would like to get some jumps in out there and save the packing practice for home/home dz perhaps.Good, Better, Best, never let it rest 'till your good better and your better best

Beer 0 #33 December 30, 2006 Pull it out, shake it, and put back in all in the privacy of your own home. Practice at home as much as you can stand before heading out. I've been teaching myself to pro-pack (I'm a flat packer) by a couple diffrent methods and will probably try the psyco pack in a little bit. You can't jump it and see how well you are packing, but you'll get plenty of practice stuffing it in the bag. You could just get it into the bag and take it back out so you have it back to the cacooning step, and do t all over again. A large piece of heavy poaster board or cardboard placed over the canopy can be used to press all the air out. One of our DZO's does this all the time. Learn to be happy. Andy_Copland 0 #34 December 30, 2006 Just dont leave your nicely completed pack job in the living room. My mother decided to "tidy up." Good job i didnt have a reserve in when she decided to man handle my rig. I found it in the cupboard with the handle out and pin pulled 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Beer 0 #35 December 30, 2006 Yeah, that would suck. I have a 5 month old boxer/lab mix to contend with. EVERYTHING is a toy. She hasn't tried to pull at the rig at all, but she really seems to enjoy the smell of a well used canopy. I can't blame her. Learn to be happy.
