Got my own gear!

Recommended Posts

Merry X-Mas to me! Wow it feels great to own gear now. Not having to cram into rental gear that was meant for a shorter person. My rig is so comfortable I couldn't believe it. I want to jump it so bad I don't know what to do with myself all week. The weekend seems so far away!

lol Alex, yes I have been wearing it around the house and my wife is like WTF are you doing? I told her I was goin to base jump off the roof--jk
Honestly it is so comfortable, I was used to the crappy fit of the student gear. I lucked out that the guy I purchased it from was my same height and weight. I need to drive to the dz after work and get the reserve repacked as it is out of date.[:/]

nice bud!! sweet lookin rig! awesome colors.

my wife set me up on that pic. dont remember crashing on it like that but I very well could have, seeing as how it wasnt out of my reach for at least the first 24 hrs. another clue I was framed is how my dog has his head by my leg like sayin " man here I was chillin by my nugga when yall came to disrupt my spot" or "can yall hurry up with the pic that rig is in my spot":D:D

I think it's not wise to buy a rig before you downsize to at least 139-149 ft. Just a looss of money on further downsizing... You will have to change the main canopy as well as container and reserve quite soon. For instance it took me to only 120 jumps to start flying 139 ft Safire and I consider it was a bit too long.

Better get some experience first and then buy a decent canopy according to the balance between performance and safety you prefer.

That is it! Rush the downsize so you can buy the rig you want and then when you are mending in the hospital, you can try to locate a larger rig to get recurrent on.

Try not to encourage early downsizing. We all know where that can take us. 200 nice landings will not justify the 1 mistake that breaks you. Just because a lot of people survive driving drunk doesn't make that a good idea either.

Try to avoid using canopy sizes in general statements since all skydivers don't have the same exit weight.

I don't mean to single you out because I know you mean well but this advice is potentially very dangerous to our new jumpers.

Robin, I have to agree with you. I just want to make a few hundred jumps on this safer gear and I am in no rush to downsize anytime soon. Makes no sense to get hurt, lose my job, have to sell everything and then start over. As one of my wise instructors told me "there are three stages: crawl, walk, run". I am in the walk stage right now and I am having a blast! ;)

Dammit! Why didn't someone tell me this 15 years ago?!?!? Just think of all the money I could have saved by renting instead of buying!! :S

LMAO:D

When am I going to get to jump with you Lisa?

yeah you right! hell yeah! just 80 more jumps and I too can be under a 119ft/sq.

damn too bad I didnt know this before I bought a canopy. man where were you when i started jumping....let me guess you were at jump #80 on rental gear waiting to get under that 119 and not worthy of giving this great advice

dude youre my hero, can I come get your autograph when youre in the hospital, please can I

please learn something about wing loading, canopy progression, and this phenomenon called gravity it makes different people with different mass have different weights before you go posting some ignorant shit
