darksteppa1 0 #1 August 26, 2004 I have'nt made a skydive yet. i did my 2 tandems, here's my question??? I havent even made a skydive in a month. i signed up for A.F.F. but, i was'nt able to do my first level. everyone says that you're body has to be use to the air within 30 days?? i don't know what too do since i lost that feeling because i ended up traveling from place to place, hotel to hotel.. Should I??? do the wind tunnel ? make another tandem? or just continue doing A.F.F.??
Bodyflight.Net 0 #2 August 26, 2004 Hi Darksteppa1! I think everyone should enjoy wind tunnels from time to time, so go for it! (of course I'm biased in that respect ) If you still feel after that your not ready to go AFF, then do another tandem. There is no race to the finish here... staying in your comfort zone is very important! Good luck and see around the forums! Keep us all posted! Don't worry about making another tandem, you should be fine continuing with AFF. However, if it has been more than 30 days since your ground course, you may be required to repeat it, and should at the very least have an extra ground review. You won't be able to progress through AFF if you leave long periods between AFF jumps, so try to cut down on the traveling, or find some way to stack the jumps together.Tom Buchanan Instructor Emeritus Comm Pilot MSEL,G Author: JUMP! There is always other options for getting into the air. How about static? More affordable, and gives ya confidence! That helped me get back at it this year. Wind tunnel is excellent idea too! Wish we had something like that available to us up here in the Northern midwest! But by all means, go for it! But that's Just my $.02 worth for ya!
 scientist_chick 0 #7 September 1, 2004 All I can say is tandems are ok for experiencing the freefall and are counted towards your jump numbers, but other than that are not worth much more. So forget about doing tandems (they cost more money too) and sign up for the AFF course. You get to be in control of the skydive and if you like it after level 1 you can go on and do level 2 and so on. I know I only have 15 jumps (1 being a tandem!), but believe me, after doing AFF I wouldn't go back and do another tandem again.**Moggie Gifts**
 skyhighkiy 0 #8 September 1, 2004 I strongly suggest doin a couple statics, it's a great way to progress in the course, as you can see from my profile, I'm brand new and just recently finished with the course (about 30 jumps ago) and the progression of tandem, static, IAF and solo was perfect for me, it was enough to make me a little apprehensive, but still extremely excited. a little discomfort is normal, so I've heard from other ppl and from my experiences, but it shouldn't overwhelm you with fear. just giv eyou enough to give you that adrenaline, woo! adrenaline! You know what? I'd like to talk more...but I'm gonna go drop out of a plane, LAYTAAAAAAAAA BE THE BUDDHA!
 mattjw916 2 #9 September 1, 2004 My experience: 2 tandems... two weeks off 7 AFF jumps... one week off 3 solos... one week off 9 coach jumps... one week off 3 coach jumps and 1 solo... A license & broke! The more current you keep yourself, the more smoothly you will progress, hence no re-jumps for me. This advice was given to me by almost every instructor, coach, etc I talked to. Personally I think after 2 tandems you can probably get through an AFF I jump without much drama... but I don't know you so take that with a grain of salt. I know several people (family members) that did AFF with NO tandems and passed so it is possible. Personally, you couldn't pay me to do a static line jump... some people think they are a good learning method and that is fine, but I'll pass.
