Tito.J 0 #1 October 16, 2006 I was supposed to stay looking at heading and stable, but I turned around quickly so the instructor had to grab me and stop me from turning around. I passed the level, since it's first time I was let go, but what happened? I could not stop turning... Video here...I hope I can correct this next time, else I won't pass the next level. I'd appreciate greatfully any input. Thanks! http://my.break.com/Media/View.aspx?ContentID=166028
AggieDave 6 #2 October 16, 2006 What did your instructor tell you caused the turn? Flying your body without turning requires you to be in a neutral body position, having your arms, hips, torso, legs or feet out of position can all cause a different kind of turn. We weren't on the skydive, we're not your instructors, so your instructors are really the only ones that can work with you on correcting any body position problems you may or may not experience. At the end of the day, though, RELAX. A nice relaxed neutral body position will fly better then a stiff piece of cardboard body position.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." sundevil777 102 #3 October 16, 2006 It looked like you maybe had your body twisted to look like a "C" if viewed from below. You didn't turn all the time, so not so bad. Be confident, and try to control the position of your lower legs so they don't flail about.People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am

bodypilot1 0 #5 October 16, 2006 Quote I passed the level Looks like a Cat C jump. Heading control is the TLO for this release dive. Doesn't look like you had any. I'd ask again if you passed this level. If you aren't able to hold a heading, do you really think your ready for controlled turns? Quote but what happened? I could not stop turning... If you can not answer this question after your debrief, you may want to get another instructor at your DZ to explain it better to you, and NOT rely on people on the internet for your debriefs........ Sorry f this sound harsh, but there is nothing I hate more then students going home with unanswered questions about the jump they just did....... Froggy 0 #6 October 16, 2006 First of all -- did you review this video with your instructor, and did you ask him the same question? If yes, what was the response? If no, WHY? You should definitely talk to the instructor who was there with you! I am sure people with more experience will give you more details and tips to fix it, but one thing that is very apparent is that your legs are out of control, and this is what's causing the spin, IMHO. It was the same thing (but much more violent) with me on my very first solo exit... -------------- We were not born to fly. And all we can do is to try not to fall... buzi 0 #9 October 16, 2006 It has already been said, your instructor should help you with your questions. Don't forget symmetry and relax. Keep your arms level (you can see them). Ask your instructor about tapping your heels to make sure your legs are also level (this helped me alot at first). Keep reading, listening, watching videos and asking questions, and don't forget to breath and smile. Blue skies
pilatus_p 0 #10 October 16, 2006 Hehe you should have seen my spins on level 7. If I'd taken my washing up with me I could have spin dried my smalls in freefall ... Agree with the points above. Your JM was next to you at the time and would be in the best position to answer your questions. My perception is that for the exit spin, your JM just prvided a wee bit of a nudge as he exits with you. Your subsequent spin looks like a leggy issue (same as me), and the other ones seem to coincide with you looking at your alti - maybe a slightly twisted body position? Tunnel time could be useful! The poster above is right - taking advice off people on the internet is not the best plan. I have been wearing the same underwear for three days. It saves on bills but seems to scare small children. Tito.J 0 #11 October 21, 2006 I did pass the level because it was the first time I was let go, and even though I'm supposed to keep heading, the instructor said it was not a bad jump, just a bit unstable at first let go. On my next jump tomorrow I'll have to keep my heading, and then turn 180 degrees, then back to heading to pass. I'll try my best. Thanks for the leg comments, I figured as much it had to do with it. I'll keep them level tomorrow. Wish me luck

Tito.J 0 #13 October 24, 2006 Well I didn't get to jump on that day last Saturday, but yet, the radio assistant girl Nikky was very nice to offer us students a hike on the mountains since she knew the wind wasn't going to go away (yes it was windy like crazy). Nikky took me and another student on a hike through a river in the upstate NY Peter's Kiill area, and it was wonderful. I had one of the best times of my life I have to admit. I kind of fell on my butt on a log laying across the river (which name I don't remember). I still feel the pain, but the memories of that hike and the redness of the trees, I'll never forget. Thanks Nikky for such a nice trip. You're a wonderful person! The hike for sure made up for the windy conditions. I would have sat there at Skydive The Ranch the whole day waiting for a non existent jump. Much props to you girl! The "brunch" after was wonderful as well, we got to get to know each other quite a bit. Me, another student (who unfortunately I forgot the name of), Tanya, you're wonderful people, I had a great time at that restaurant after the hike, it was just wonderful. I must say, skydive the ranch has the most wonderful friendly people you can find anywhere. I was so happy, and I will never forget... Blue skies, Tito
