shermanator 4 #1 October 3, 2006 Just curious what everyone does with their pull chord when they are not packing. after seeing someone do this, i started doing it myself.. I put tuck it inside the gap of the main pincover. has worked out well for me. havent lost it yet, but i only have done so for about 7 jumps.CLICK HERE! new blog posted 9/21/08 CSA #
quade 4 #2 October 3, 2006 There are several places you can put one on a rig, but make sure it's someplace that makes sense and won't prevent the rig from working as intended. In any event, it's not a bad idea to always carry a spare with you while jumping. You never know when you might end up landing out and you want to field pack your rig for the trip back.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

Can you explain that for me? I don't understand where you put it. Really. I used to put one in my reserve flap with the data card but I lost a few and didn't want to increase the risk of it taking the data card with it. Yup, that means that the reserve pin flap opened in freefall a few times.I hasn't happened often but it happened more often when I had a Chord in there. Now, I one in each of my jump suits. I don't bother keep ing money with me b/c our outs are in the middle of no where. My photos My Videos

Not a case of losing it but rather it slipping out of that main flap pocket and hanging around my pin. Ever leave a ball of string unattended? ltdiver 3 #8 October 4, 2006 Since you didn't mention my pull-up cord hiding place, I -had- to answer... I almost -always- have to wear my weight belt to keep up with the heavy guys, so I have it in communicating with the lead. Have my business card in there also, in case it is lost. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
Peej 0 #9 October 4, 2006 I generally have one in each of my jumpsuit/ freefly pants pockets. I'm not too worried though, if i landed out and didn't have one i'd just use my shoelace. Advertisio Rodriguez / Sky
MB38 0 #10 October 4, 2006 I use a packing tool, I keep it in my pocket. It's my second one - I lost the first one in freefall when I forgot to snap the pocket shut. Lets just say I'm glad it didn't catch me in the face on the way out. I use packing tools because pull-up cords were cutting my hands after about 5 packjobs in a day.I really don't know what I'm talking about.

Is that an incentive for when you land off for people to find you or emergency beer money. I used to keep £100 in my car in cash (well hidden) incase I needed it (used to go to a lot of remote places for work) but I kept spending it 'king will power. ------ Two of the three voices in my head agree with you. yardhippie 0 #12 October 4, 2006 people laugh sometimes at me for this, but ya know what... when theres one not to be found who do they come see? I fold it twice then roll it up and put a small rubber band around it. I keep it in the pocket of whatever suit, shorts, etc Im jumping. that way I also have a spare rubber band if i need one. peek 21 #13 October 4, 2006 Steve, where on earth did the name "pull through chord" come from? I can understand using "chord" for "cord" because "chord" describes a canopy dimension, but "pull through" is interesting indeed. Of course in a way we actually _do_ pull it through the grommets as well as pulling "up". Now to answer your question, I make a little pouch that goes on the left "lateral" (webbing) of my rig. Attached is a drawing and picture of how to make it. The colors may seem strange because I used whatever color Velcro and webbing I had for this picture. shermanator 4 #17 October 4, 2006 haha, indeed, i did put 'chord' ... too many years in band I guess. Yeah, there is that extra little pocket, but thats where i keep a few dollars and my uspa membership card. for the person not sure what i meant about where i keep mine... on my rig, not sure about others,..underneith the last flap, that protects the main closing pin, there is some void empty space, that is closed in, and not in any way able to prevent the reserve from opening. the only thing it could do is slip out a little bit and maybe interfere with the main pin. but i havent had any slippage of the cord coming out yet. probably the day i do, i will be finding a new place for it. wow, did that description suck or what!CLICK HERE! new blog posted 9/21/08 CSA #

Of course in a way we actually _do_ pull it through the grommets as well as pulling "up". >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> "Chord" is a miss-spelling. Pull-up cords were originally made of gutted 550 cord, which was fashionable for main suspension lines back when I was a student. "Pull through" is also a miss-spelling. Soldiers often use "pull-throughs" to clean rifle barrels. A "pull-through" is basically a heavy cord with a brass sleeve/weight on one end to drop through the barrel. The other end of a pull-through has a threaded piece of brass so you can thread on a steel brush or small square of cotton. Some solders prefer pull-throughs to gun cleaning rods, because pull-throughs are easier to stuff in a pocket/web belt/rucksack than a meter/yard long steel gun cleaning rod.
