QuoteWhat about ground-launching from a hill over-looking the swoop course?
That would not be skydving
But blade running would be an option.

A few years back the best possibility would have been para-ski in the winter olympics. But, with all the new snowboarding events and a few others the WO are saturated.
Para-ski to me would be the best fit. Since it involves skiing non-skydivers who like winter sports could relate. Accuracy is something people on the ground can actually SEE. Also there are other combined events in the WO. ( Biathlon; shooting and cross country skiing, Nordic combined; jumping and skiing etc.) most of the countries that compete in the WO also have Para-ski teams.
As far as the motor thing all chairlifts, gondolas, aerial trams have motors. In some cases helicopters are used to ferry alpine competitors to the top of the mountain.

What is paraskiing?

Not totally sure, but I saw an awesome video on SkydivingMovies.com that had guys with skis/snowboards and BASE rigs doing crazy flips off of ridiculously high cliffs and then deploying. Pretty cool stuff. That would be fun to watch in the Olympics!
It is a combined event. Giant slalom alpine ski racing and parachute accuracy. They combine your ski time with the total distance to the target for an overall score. Typically jumps are hop and pops from a helicopter and landings are performed on a snow covered slope.

Hi agent_lead,
My thoughts: You will never see skydiving in the Olympics in your lifetime.
Their effort is on sports that do not need 'devices' and an airplane definitely qualifies.
There has been a horrendous amount of effort at the international level to get skydiving in the Olympics and it is no closer than it was 25 yrs ago.

Well, maybe no other sport NEEDS one. But I sure didn't see any skiers walking to the top of the slope when I attended the Olympics. Never saw a bobsled being hauled up the mountain on the shoulders of the team either. They USE motors for all kinds of lift assets for events in the Winter Olympics. I do see your point though. One could argue that they don't NEED them.
Anyway, thanks for the cliff notes. I think that pretty much sums it up.

If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
