lootcorp 0 #1 July 29, 2004 hi all, Recently jumped my first tandem at DeLand while visiting my gf's family in Florida. Now I'm hooked and can't wait to start my IAF training here in NY (either Blue Skies Ranch or Skydive Long Island) Has anyone had any training experiences at either of those DZs? Any instructors that come highly recommended? My other question concerns seasonal timing - I won't have the money to start my training for at least a month, and I doubt there's any way I'd complete it before winter hits. I'm assuming that there is no jumping in the northeast during winter months due to the cold and weather conditions - if that is in fact true, would I be better off waiting until after the winter to begin my training? All thoughts/comments are appreciated! -Loot
Daizey 0 #2 July 29, 2004 The ranch is a great place to do IAF...i did my first 3 tandems there as well as levels 4 and 5. The instructors there are great and they have a really good program. Not sure where you are from, but another great place for aff is Above the poconos in Hazleton, PA...its about the same distance as the ranch from NYC or Long Island..its a smaller DZ...but very personal and very one on one. I really enjoyed finishing my student training there... Ive havent jumped at skydive long island yet...right now I have been splitting my time between the ranch and Above the poconos....all of the instructors at both DZ's are instructors I would highly recommend Both DZ's continue to operate during the winter as well...jsut not as often, and depending on weather... Feel free to pm me if youd like anymore info on either dz *daizey*
johnny1488 1 #3 July 29, 2004 Come up and check ou the ranch. We are about to hit the busy season with students so there will be plenty of jumping happening. Plus you can jump till you finish because we dont stop jumping when it gets cold. Come up one weekend even if your not ready to start to check it out and introduce yourself! riggerrob 643 #4 July 29, 2004 Every serious skydiver does some refresher training in the springtime, so don't let that worry you. Why do you think that United States Parachute Association affiliated drop zones schedule "Safety Day" every March?
