TaylorC 0 #1 June 6, 2006 I had my rig stolen from my car today and was wondering what the best course to take with insurance companies and everything else would be.
Broke 0 #2 June 6, 2006 First report it in the Stolen gear listing. Also file a police repoort. Then call your insurance company to see what protection you have for personal property.Divot your source for all things Hillbilly. FrogNog 1 #3 June 6, 2006 When I got some stuff stolen (not from a DZ, not much skydiving stuff, and it was my own damn fault for leaving it somewhere on accident for 3 minutes) I found myself doing a different step: deciding whether the amount my insurance would cover after deductible was worth having a claim go on my record. -=-=-=-=- Pull. obelixtim 150 #4 June 6, 2006 I posted a "wanted to buy" ad in my local paper, offering a ridiculous price..... Sure enough, I had a response from a guy who had my gear...... It was all fun after that.....but not for him.... Most gear gets pinched because people think its a backpack full of goodies.... Give the cops all the info...photos, serial numbers..... Sometimes it comes back untouched if you're lucky...My computer beat me at chess, It was no match for me at kickboxing....
BIGUN 1,406 #5 June 6, 2006 1. File Police Report. 2. File Insurance report. 3. Submit all gear descriptions & S/Ns to Parachutist, Skydiving Magazine & on dz.com http://www.dropzone.com/stolen/ 4. File Cypres S/N with Airtec's stolen DB.Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

duroejc 0 #8 June 6, 2006 Get your insurance policies out and read them - very carefully- before you call your insurance company. Many times how things are presented and what information you include or exclude can determine the outcome of a claim. I don't suggest being untruthful- it's about the spin. example- my cut away canopy was covered as it was part of my personal property that I was traveling with. It was not where I last left it (in a field ) and as such was presumed stolen. Another example- if a dog enters your swimming pool and damages the liner- no insurance coverage. If a wild animal enters your pool and damages the liner you are covered.
TaylorC 0 #9 June 7, 2006 Got my gear back today in a garbage bag with every handle pulled. Thank fully they didn't pull the parachutes out of thier bags so thier is no visible damage to anything.
