diverds 0 #1 May 24, 2006 Does anyone remember an article in either Parachutist or Skydiving several years ago that was written by an ENT who was also a skydiver? The article talked about the risks of jumping with head and sinus congestion. I am trying to get in contact with this doctor. Any ideas? Armour 0 #6 May 25, 2006 Most likely the same problems as SCUBA diving with sinus problems. Where going up to altitude then descending if you have a blockage getting sinus squeeze (witch hurts like hell) or having a blockage during accent and there is no release of pressure. (Hurts like hell as well) Also a blockage may prevent from being able to effectively equalize ear pressure causing ear squeeze. Found this link to the USPA site http://www.uspa.org/publications/parachutist/online%20archives/2004/09.04/allergies0904.htm-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most. ScottMcC 0 #8 May 25, 2006 I worked with Dr Holt briefly last year as part of an ENT rotation. He's a good doctor, and what he has to say about ears and sinuses in the article (and in general) is definitely spot on. and from now on, whenever I say "trust me, I'm a doctor," I'm not kidding!
