arni999 0 #1 May 13, 2006 I suppose this is a slight variation on the 'Do Tandem Jumps Count Towards Licenses' post, but i was just wondering, as i have previously completed 9 AFF jumps (albeit summer last year), can these count towards my A licence with the BPA? They are all logged in my log book. I'm going out to Spain in July to do AFF again after failing to complete it last year in rainy old England. I'm not asking whether they can count towards my course as i will be starting from scratch, just whether or not they can count towards my 1st licence (A)? Any help with this would be great. I actually have a copy of the BPA manual but have no idea where to look for this particular issue Mikey ------------------------------------------ Fear Is Weakness Leaving Your Body
shropshire 0 #2 May 13, 2006 Just a guess... but the license is more about quality than quantity. So for example, you may have loads of tunnel time, which will increase you flying skills and could speed up the process of getting your certificate.... also dont worry about having to do rejumps, most people do. For me, it's all about jumping safely not who gets their license in the least number of jumps. Enjoy your course and future participation in this great sport. . (.)Y(.) mr2mk1g 10 #3 May 13, 2006 In general there are no jump number requirements for a BPA A-licence – only skill demonstration requirements. This is certainly the case for RAPS. For AFF you must complete the 8 levels in no less than 8 jumps and must complete no less than 10 consol's. So again, with AFF it's demonstration of skills rather than jump numbers which count. Subsequent licences (B/C/D) however do have jump number requirements (50/200/1000) and I see no reason why your previous jumps wouldn't count towards those. You may find that there is some scope for incorporating some of what you have previously learnt into your upcoming AFF program depending on just how long ago your jumps were. I'm sure they will discuss the possability with you and ultimately it will come down to what your instructors think is safe for you within the scope of the rules. riggerrob 643 #4 May 13, 2006 Yes, last year's AFF dives count towards a BPA license. While BPA may specify a minimum number of jumps (probably 25) - for an A License - they are more interested in whether you can perform the "list of skills."
