Can he jump?

Recommended Posts

As a surprise, I want to take my husband to do his first tandem jump for Father's Day. His mother seems to think he can't do it since he had an operation when he was young to repair a blown eardrum (mastoid). Anybody know if he can still jump?

Thanks for any help!

Need to check with HIS ear nose & throat specialist...I blew mine out Scuba diving 20 years ago and required surgery...but I have no problems jumping.

I blew an eardrum years ago, as a result of jumping while I had a head cold. It took four days to finally rupture, and was very painful for a couple of weeks. My hearing in that ear took months to get back to normal, but I have been skydiving, and SCUBA diving actively for 30 years, and 12 years respectively, and have had no residual effects. That being said, absolutely ask your ENT; and opt for a static-line (much lower altitude) if (s)he won't bless it.:)

This is BY FAR the absolute worst place you can be asking this question. Please seek competent medical advice from his/a EN&T doctor. Hell call a few different ones and ask em!

Amen again.

I poked my eardrum out with a Q-tip...I mean like nearly all the way in...I fully expected to see brain tissue on the end when I pulled it out...hearing dead except for right-up-against-the-ear stuff like the phone. At least there's no problem with pressurization now on that side!
My reality and yours are quite different.

I agree with everyone to check with an EN&T Specialist, but don't just check with a normal doctor. About four weeks ago I too had to have eardrum surgery, however they clearned me to jump after a few days, but recommended waiting two weeks. :)
