mostwanted 0 #1 March 5, 2006 how much load do i have to include in the wingload-calculation? i have 62 kg (= 137 lbs) (naked ). let's assume that i will jump a container with a 218 Raven IIg (7-cell-canopy) as the main-canopy and a suitable reserve in it. i just finished my AFF and have no idea what my weight with the gear on could be... yamtx73 0 #2 March 5, 2006 Wingload = exit weight/canopy size Figuring your weight plus clothing and gear to be about 170 divided by 218 gives a wing loading of .779The only naturals in this sport shit thru feathers...
mostwanted 0 #3 March 5, 2006 thank you for your answer. i read that the Raven IIg weights 6,5 lbs - is this with the lines and risers? please see attached image. are you sure that i would have to add 33 lbs (that is quite a lot, isn't it?) to my body-weight? eeneR 3 #4 March 5, 2006 You could always gear up and step onto a scale and see what your exit weight is. She is not a "Dumb Blonde" - She is a "Light-Haired Detour Off The Information Superhighway." eeneR TF#72, FB#4130, Incauto
mostwanted 0 #5 March 5, 2006 not really - i do not own that specific rig - not yet... edited to add: PS: infact i do not own any rig...
eeneR 3 #6 March 5, 2006 Quotenot really - i do not own that specific rig - not yet... edited to add: PS: infact i do not own any rig... Ok that changes everything And 33 lbs would be a good guess for gear. My V3 Micron 310, Stiletto 150, Cypress and PD143r weigh about 25lbs...last time I hopped on scale with and with out. And that is just the rig, no weights or any other gear. She is not a "Dumb Blonde" - She is a "Light-Haired Detour Off The Information Superhighway." eeneR TF#72, FB#4130, Incauto

Samurai136 0 #9 March 5, 2006 My sport rig with a 120 main and 126 reserve tops the scales at 18 pounds. You're talking about jumping a main and reserve that are 218 sq feet. Rough guess is that rig will weigh 27 pounds... plus the weight of clothes/ helmet/etc (another 5 to 10). 33 pounds is not an unreasonable number for equipment. mostwanted 0 #10 March 5, 2006 thank you for your helping posting! QuoteWhy are you jumping a raven for a main? jumping a big, docile 7-cell-canopy like the Raven is one of those getting-into-base-recommendations. edited to add: ...it should be similar to base-canopies.
