riggerrob 643 #27 January 27, 2006 QuoteQuote Speaking of common student problems .... far too many student squeeze leg straps tightly around their thighs, then wonder about the bruises. Let's face it, those leg straps are going to end up high in your crotch, so you might as well adjust them there before boarding the plane. Rob, how can it be too tight? Too loose and you get your entire body accelerated into the strap at opening snatch. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I should have included another line about "tighten leg straps several inches below their crotch, then wonder why they get slapped." Doooough! Leg straps are like shotguns: if there is any slack, you will get slapped. Since leg straps are going to end up high in your crotch, you might as well put them there before boarding the airplane. It's not just a rite of passage. In the worst case, I nearly passed out under canopy - I believe because circulation was cut off to one leg, or the strap was pinching a nerve. Soon after that I got serious about getting my own container. Course, could have just been an odd fluke, I had used that container on about 10 other jumps. I'd pull my knees up into a sitting position and cross my feet. it takes some fo the pressure off. i noticed the pain more when you'd let up on a turn. and this reduces it. it doesnt get rid of it, but it helps. then when you get to 100 ft. go into your normal 'legs together straight out in front of you" form. -------------------------------------------------- Do you have a steak? i'll take it!
